If were on pace for 33 now, as the season goes on and everyone hits their midseason form, we will lose at a higher percentage so I'm guessing we don't win 30 games

Yeah. I think our 3% increases while our defense settles down towards middle of the pack.

But we should be optimistic that we are on such a good pace.

You folks are much more optimistic about the Lakers shooting than I am. I think Lopez, KCP, and Lonzo will be streaky all season, though there's some upside with Kuzma getting comfortable and maybe Ingram taking a few more threes per game. But unless the former trio becomes more consistent, this team likely finishes at the bottom of the NBA from behind the arc.

We haven't played many of the elite teams yet other than Boston.

20% of our games have been against the Suns.

Remaining SOS is much harder, but hopefully we get better and that evens things out.

We are a young team that is getting used to each other so we could improve. Plus lots of other teams, but not us, wiil be tanking, so that could help us win a couple of extra games down the stretch. 35 wins is probably still in reach but 40 is looking difficult.

One thing that could hurt our record is if we dump valuable pieces like Clarkson and Randle at the trade deadline.

Should be an interesting year.

There's a lot of parity in the 7-12 range in both conferences, so you could actually see less tanking until those final spots get solidified.

Fwiw, I had predicted 33 wins, but I thought they'd catch their stride late, and figured they'd start real slow. They surprised me early, although they seem to be regressing back a bit. Still think they have a shot to finish strong, even poorly constructed, but the question is where they level off to in the interim.

We're regressing back to the mean because we have no consistent structure in what we're supposed to be running offensively.

That's our biggest issue because our coach is still treating this like pre-season.

sigh

I was under the impression that the "tanking" started when we actually fell apart after Nance and Russel were out with injuries. I doubt we'd be tanking if we were say, 18-22 by January. Of course that is all assuming there was a deliberate attempt by Magic, Luke, and all our players to actively tank which I find doubtful.

I was super impressed by the win over Denver last night. All of a sudden I can easily see them winning the next three (Bulls, Kings, Clippers) and being back up to .500. If they can regularly play like they played last night, the sky's the limit.

We’ve got a tough schedule to end the year. Will be interesting to see how we are doing on January 1.

If we finish the month with 10 or 11 wins, does that put us on pace for 43 wins?

Today's Math Lesson: a simple way to estimate the number of wins!

You need the number of victories and total games THUS FAR. So let's say you have 10 wins in 23 games. Now, multiply the number of wins by 82, and divide by the number of games the team has played. I can't type the ratio correctly here, so please forgive the formatting.

(Current Wins * 82) / Amount of Games Played = Wins over 82 games

That gives you a total of 35.65, so you can choose to either round up or down, so they'd be at a 35 or 36 win pace in your scenario.

If we steal two of those games we are at 8-7

We're actually had more close wins than close loses. By your reasoning we could have also been 5-12.
