Only to those who thought we were a playoff team. We were predicted to win 29 games for a reason l. |
Just because we were predicted to win 29 means we HAVE to win 29 games. This team is going to lose enough on its own due to lack of ability. This was a winnable game by many measures, so you must get them when you can. I do understand the frustrations, but I'm not for blowing it up. |
It was a tight game all game. A more experienced team won. Learning curve... there is one for every thing you do. Including coaching.
But it is easy to see where the frustration comes from. If the coaching is so obviously weird, it creates tension. Nance (-18) comes back from IL and plays 30 min and makes costly mistakes. At the same time players with +11 and +12 sit on the bench, play mere 20-24 minutes and are not in for critical moments.
Luke has made it very easy to criticize him. He needs to learn to balance the rotations quickly now. _________________ .

I'm frustrated by Luke's rotations but he's doing something right if you think the Lakers are a 29 win talent, as they are on pace to win 33 games. |
While I understand the sentiment, +4 is right within the standard deviation... |

Those two will most likely be traded because of the cap plan. |

How could Luke mis-coach our 3 all stars? Darn !!!
Forgot, we have a rookie team with a rookie
coach...ok, let the P&M continue over Kuz...
With this team, I picked us to win a little over 30 games,
I'm on target... _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Eh. More like the 76ers. I think we will be in the 9-11th pick range when it's all said and done. (we are currently the 9th worse). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I was so depressed after the game last night that I needed sleep to keep from being negative. But here is my rant.
I was very critical of JC at the beginning of the year and compared him to KCP just to make a point that JC shouldn't be starting. But 20 games in, I realized that KCP should be in the starting lineup but so should JC. I was comparing JC to the wrong person.
JC has been better than Zo this whole year. He has turned the corner and has developed his passing game. For those who say that JC is who he is, well I beg to differ because he has improved significantly. And we don't know if he has the capability to get better if not given the time.
For those who say that JC isn't good defensively, then I counter.....is he that bad that the Lakers are playing 4 vs. 5 on defense. I am convinced that Zo is so horrid on offense that the opposing team is playing 5 vs. 4. Let that sink in for a bit.
Just because Zo is a 2nd pick, doesn't mean he should start. He needs to earn his spot. Let him come off the bench for a while and see if his shot gets better. In the mean time, start JC. |

Lonzo is the golden child and Magic's "guy," so that'll never happen.
KCP is Rich Paul's guy, who happens to also be LBJ's guy, so that'll never happen.
It's unfortunate but it is what it is. (and this is from someone who has been critical of JC in the past). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I agree, no need to blow anything up. Unfortunately our FO has made comments that lead to speculation that some of our players won’t be returning next season. I think we see more disconnection as the season progresses, and who can blame the players. If the organization doesn’t have your back, why not look at your future? The FO have made their pet projects known, they have to live with the consequences. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Clearly JC should at least be playing down the stretch. Last night's game was clearly winnable and it has to be demoralizing to the team when Lonzo is out there to finish the game when JC is clearly the better player at this point. Magic needs to put aside his pride if that is the reason for Zo playing at the end of these games. Lonzo will be fine in time but for now it's better to play the best guys in the 4th quarter and try to pull out some W's. |

Definitely a winnable game last night.
As far as the FO "plans," no one really knows positively what they are going to do.
Plans are always subject to change plus saying and doing are completely different things. We shall see. |

Pelinka: Dear God, Magic, forum poster Inspector Gadget has given us the blow up order.
Magic: It's time for us to take things seriously. Call in the team (Team assembles). It has come to our attention that Inspector Gadget is unhappy with your progress. Luke, Gadget has explicitly posted which rotations you should be using after every game. Do you not even read LG? Time to pack your bags. Randle, Clarkson, the experiment is over here. We thought you were the recipe for success, but it turns out you only make iso-cream, which is not half as delicious as the bag of potato chips we traded you for.
Pelinka: Thanks, Magic. This reminds me of a story about a team who traded everyone and fired the coach and then never lost again. I think it was by J.K. Rowling. |

Glad the team is showing improved defense and moving the ball a bit better. Luke is learning on the job and is growing as a coach with a similarly young team.
that being said, it didn't have to take this long:
Its been 5 years and we've gone through 4 coaches between Phil and Luke,
we lost our assets (Howard, Pau) for nothing,
really with picks and salary overpayed for a 38 year old PG
Mozgov and Deng were parting gifts from Jim Buss and Mitch.
we've had the worst records in Laker history, been the laughingstock of the league for 2-3 years there. I think fans should be forgiven if they're a little impatient at this point.
We went from perennial contender to bottom of the league in a matter of a couple years between 2012-2014, and just now we're slowly getting back to our feet. Of course I'll lay the blame on the incompetence of our previous FO, Kobe's Achilles and the botched Paul Trade of course hurt as well, but even with those unfortunate events - It didn't have to be this bad. |
