I think this video is also a great window into some of the issues that plague the Lakers offense.
In descending importance:
1) No one can make a shot, even when they get a good look
2) Only one guy can set his man up off the dribble into a ball screen, and that guy has tunnel vision
3) Poor screens
4) No or few automatics once the initial pass is taken away.
Btw, didn't the weak side pindown used to be called 'Weak Elbow Quick' ? |
Was it? I thought it was Get, although Quick would make more sense. Oh well. |

Yeah, I think I heard Luke call it in last season's training camp. No biggie tho. |

Once the Playoffs are out of reach, i am curious to what degree Luke is going to experiment with lineups and rotations and how much they are influenced by the fo (increasing trade value, etc)
Would love to see Julius as a starting Center with Lonzo KCP BI Kuz and see how much he can give you with increased responsibilty. |
Thanks, man. And right there with you regarding Randle as the starting Center. More importantly, I hope he's the starting Center for the 2018-19 Lakers. |
Do you think he will be as effective as a starting center vs. a super role player center? That's my only question regarding him as a starting 5. I really want Luke to try it out but there's some politics behind Lopez starting vs. coming off the bench |
If they gotta sign a Zaza-type to play the first shift of each half that's fine too. |

Congrats on the credentials!
All the behind-the-scenes stuff must be fascinating. Like, what kind of cliques the Laker reporters have, how the vibe changes when an ESPN person is there (Windhorst seems like a guy who'd be uppity, Ramona seems great though).
Tania Ganguli seems like the type who's best friends with everybody. Bill Oram's the class clown, Serena's the overachieving teacher's pet, Coach Pete's the "new kid, don't roll your eyes when he asks Luke an actual basketball question" |

Oram is CONSTANTLY making puns.
The other day in the media room, he sits down next to me and says...
Bill: "Someone asked me the other day why Lakers beat people ask so many technical questions. You know what I said?"
Me: "Oh Jesus here we go"
Bill: "FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!" |

he’s really corny but some of his puns on twitter are pretty good.
Keep asking the technical questions |

And as all the reporters really just blab about basketball and the Lakers you can carve out a different angle and write about the reporters |

I don't know if I'm just following the guys covering the team more this year and all the interviews and press conferences with Luke, but it does seem like everyone is looking at and questioning the technical aspects of the team's performance more than I've seen in the past. Outside of all the Lonzo/Lavar nonsense, there's been better discussion about actual basketball than I can ever remember. The only two things I can think of that could be fueling that are the increased presence and general all-around intelligence/awesomeness of the hardcore Laker Twitter community and your videos, GT. Amazing work this past year, man, and I'm sure you're going to keep the train rolling. You're headed for BIG things, sir |
