Alright, he is officially my favorite non-Laker.

Kid is putting Utah on his back right now against the Pelicans and has 38 pts.

Mitchell joins Lebron James, Steph Curry, Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, Carmelo Anthony, and Kevin Durant as the only active players with 40+ pts in their rookie season. Damn.

Also, Kuz will join that list of rookies scoring 40+ in a game by the end of this season, guaranteed.

His shooting form is almost perfect, not as beautiful as Lonzo's form but still ...

If Luke gave Kuz the unlimited green light on scoring (notice I did not say shooting) and give Kuz 20+ shots per game, he would e right up there with the league scoring leaders AND would win Rookie of the Year!

And we would win 20 games. I am as big of a Laker fan as anyone but don’t get the jealousy when a player on another team does well. In this case, good for Mitchell.

40% shooting is actually not good. He was even lower, but his recent shooting upped it. He's streaky, but he's a rookie, and very impressive when he's on fire. We'll see if he can be a consistent 45% shooter in his career. Being in Lonzo world, it makes you lose perspective on what's actually considered good shooting. LOL! 40% is like wow!! I'll take that for Lonzo!

For the wrong reasons.

Lyles and Millsap are stretch 4s, but Denver thought their backcourt was set with Harris (justified), Mudiay, and Murray (unjustified).

NVE shot around that percentage and Laker fans didn't care. We just knew he busted his tail and showed up in the clutch. Mitchell does the same.

Depends on where the bar is set. Where we were in 94, NVE was a breath of fresh air. When the Lakers got down to brass tacks, he wasn't a player they needed, otherwise the cancun chant wouldn't have been enough to give up on him.

When we're discussing these rookies, I tend to think about who's the next big star of the NBA, so that's where my accessment is coming from. Will be interesting to see in a few years if Mitchell is more along the lines of Monta Ellis, Jordan Clarkson, Lou Williams, etc. Or, if he's a bit more special than that. Nice wingspan, but the 6'3 part. Most of these tweener scorers just end up being a specialist.

^Mitchell has shown abilities that Ellis, Clarkson, and Lou have shown several years into their careers...

and Mitchell is a better defender than all of the above.

The thing with Donovan is he's always been streaky, even in college. He's gone on a great 4-game tear. The question is whether he will follow that with a bunch of 1 of 7 games or 3 for 21 games as he's also done.

He's good. Seems like a really nice, likable guy too. Guess fate smiled on Utah after the Hayward exit.

They've been very good drafting in the teens and twenties.
