https://swarmandsting.com/2017/12/03/rumor-charlotte-hornets-interested-trading-jordan-clarkson/

From a Hornets article.

Quote:
Per sources close to situation, the Lakers are already at the exploratory stage with several teams for a potential deal centered on Clarkson. No deal is imminent at the moment, but negotiations tend to gain more traction days before the trade deadline. The Blazers, Hornets and Nets are considered possible suitors for Clarkson.

The source in that article looked a little suspect, but if the Lakers seriously trade JC without a shooter coming back boiiiiii this squad will be terrible

This looks like the same kind of junk article that people always make for the Lakers. I think the Lakers would trade him if they can get an expiring so they have more room for that 2 max player dream.

Clarkson to Nets for Booker and Harris will be a good deal for us.

If Lakers do trade Clarkson wouldn't it be for a salary dump to make room for the "2 max contract" dream scenario, which looks even more improbable after every loss we incur?

Nets will have to pay Dinwiddie next summer and Lin will still be on their payroll. Not sure why they'd want JC. They can offer Booker and Acy's expiring deals if Lakers are looking for cap room.

I wouldn't trade JC to Charlotte unless we were getting Malik Monk from them

Sure I'd trade JC to the Nets for this kid named D'Angelo Russell though, I think he'd be a perfect fit next to Ball.

Anyway, realistically, I doubt the Hornets would give us Monk for Clarkson. I'd love if they did, but they'd probably be offering Lamb instead.

I'd give them Clarkson (or Randle) for their first round pick. Salary dump and get a pick in this draft. Kill two birds with one stone.

If you're trading Clarkson for a pick than do it to Cleveland.

Cleveland wants an actual big man and reportedly were willing to part with their Nets 1st for Deandre Jordan and to take Thompson's contract.

If THAT'S the case. Then we could probably package Lopez and Clarkson to Cleveland for Thompson and their 1st. Lopez, Clarkson and the Bulls 2nd for Shumpert, Thompson and the Nets pick should do it in THAT scenario.

Cleveland wants a Center to improve their D. They have no use for Brook, they have been starting Kevin Love at C, he gives them much better offense than Brook.

They also have a logjam at guard, they don't need JC either.

The only (tradeable) player in our squad they might be interested in is Randle.

You're aware that Brook is actually a good rim protector and is one of the most challenged on our team when he plays and he prevents a good amount to the extent that he's also another reason our defense was top 8 at the beginning of the season right?

So yeah. Lopez is bad at defense if you force him to step out to the perimeter, but as a rim protector he's good at it. Not Gobert level but rim protection is something he is good at.

Be honest, if you magically became the real-life GM of the Cavs, knowing what you know now and even more, would you pull the trigger on that deal?

Would this be a smart move for them, like at all? Even worse, could it be disastrous for them?

I know you mentioned that “reportedly” there was a trade rumor circulating. My advice is to not believe everything reported just because it is “reported”.

It’s rpobably inevitable that we trade JC and/or Randle probably
for future picks. We currently are short on scorers, so if one or
both trade la happen, I could see more and more fans wanting
Like to be fired because we don’t score enough to win; 😂 LOL

The mention of Portland as a possible destination for Clarkson is strange.

They traded a guard (Crabbe) coming off the bench for a lesser salary (Nicholson) that they stretch waived to reduce the luxury tax assessment.

Adding Clarkson with his two future years and the future money owed as charges against team salary for Nicholson doesn't give them much in savings versus having kept Crabbe.

I think JC and Randle would welcome a trade. If I was either of them, I would want far away from this FO and coaching staff.

Don’t think they’d welcome a trade. Think they’d welcome the trade of our coach more.

As a good pseudo-slave master I’ve never been more happy to have a player clutched by restrictive, restricted free agency than I am with Randle.

Selfish as hell, I know.
