Whoa I totally forgot that he was collaborating with Glen Keane. Looks good!

Important note from the article: Kobe's Bryant himself will not win an Oscar because he served as Executive Producer, not a Producer. But he was screenwriter too, doesn't that count for something?

He made the top 10 but they're only nominating 5. I'm thinking "In a Heartbeat" and whatever Pixar has prepared are locks.

I would say Kobe's film is a lock too because of the star power of Glen Keane and John Williams. But I haven't seen any of the finalists except for "In a Heartbeat" so I can't say for sure. Something also tells me that the conservative old farts at the Academy are not fond of Kobe. I have absolutely no basis for that opinion but it's just a feeling.

If a film receives a best animated short award, the award does not go to the writer; in the same way, the best picture oscar does not go to the writer, director or lead actor of the film.

Kobe would be eligible to be nominated for best adapted screenplay (it would be extremely rare for a screenplay from a short to be nominated but many years ago, the screenplay award went to a writer of a silent short). Practically, there is zero chance of that happening.

So if the short is nominated, my guess is Kobe will go to the ceremony (it's a luncheon that takes place apart from the televised event for the big awards). If the short wins, he'd probably join the team on stage, but he wouldn't receive a statue and he wouldn't be considered an oscar winner himself.

3 of my favorite talents in the World. Glen Keane, John Williams and The Mamba.

Would have loved to have been at the Hollywood Bowl when he came out for the John Williams concert.

It's a really great short and I really hope it wins.

It was a fun surprise. I've seen a lot of guest performers at concerts, but he's not the type of guy you expect to stroll out on stage.

This was an awesome watch, as Kobe and Glen sit down and discuss the creative process that went into making Dear Basketball.

http://www.cartoonbrew.com/shorts/watch-glen-keane-kobe-bryant-talk-new-short-dear-basketball-150411.html

I'm not sure what else got nominated but I'm pulling for Dear Basketball by default.

So this is why Petros was pissed off. I was channel surfing and heard him mention Kobe being nominated and also accused of rape.

He talked about how that contradicted the metoo movement.

Needless to say that's all I needed to hear. This guy is full of (bleep) and hate.

Petros is just a sad bitter Clippers fan.

Well he has a point about the MeToo movement being hypocritical but I thought that long before this so why didn't he bring it up then? Oh right..

Has any other NBA player been nominated for an Oscar?
