So Dr. No, aka MJST, what is your master plan for the next 2 years for the Lakers since you seemingly don't want LBJ or PG13 on this team? Could you give us a concise vision of how you take this team to the playoffs next season, then a top 3-4 seed by 2019?

Simple answer, ain’t going to happen

Concise response or making the playoffs without 2 max players?

I have a hard time seeing James playing with a 20, 22 and 24 y/o. Especially when he will be 34 himself. Again, I think Simmons and Embiid are fantastic, but I question if LeBron doesn't want to play with an older star.

See that.

But the 76ers could then take Fultz, Saric, their own 2018 1st rounder, Lakers 2018 1st rounder, the Kings 2018 2nd rounder plus future picks and go get just about any star vet they want (Anthony Davis included).

Plus I think Wade goes wherever Bron goes for whatever room exception they have.

Simmons
Covington
LeBron
Anthony Davis
Embiid

w/ Wade, McConnell, Holmes off the bench plus vet min guys who want to play on the team.

its not a complete team. But the following year they'd have their ~8m MLE to get another shooter.

davis cannot stay healthy so it would have to be someone else.

the issue with james is his shelf-life.
that is why i prefer boogie and pg.

by 2020, james would be 36/37 and warriors would be getting a bit old too.
if we get pg/boogie, we would immediately take on warriors and 76ers and give either a really good 7 game series - with winner more dependent on healthy than anything else and Ball's development

if we get james, he could retire in 3 years.
at that point, the salary for bi/ballkuz would have shot up and we would not be able to sign another star to replace james.

By 2020 I could buy it, but not 2018. That would give our guys who are 2-3 years away the time to grow.

Interesting theory on why the Lakers are all of sudden being talked about as a team who might make a move for PG13. There has to be whispers that the agents have told the Lakers that getting a star player like a George/Cousins/Jordan will make it easier to attract and accomplish the goal of adding multiple stars to the team, yeah I might be wrong... but it’s interesting that speculation has arise on the subject of the Lakers making a move for a star.

due to salary cap, 2018 or latest 2019 is the last change to have a young core and bring in 2 max.

2019 would require losing/trading randle and clarkson because bi salary would need to rise after that.

Obviously due to business and family reasons he will likely end up out here in the future. Property out here in LA is always a good investment too. Must be nice to pick up a mansion while only spending a fraction of your yearly NBA/sponsorship income.

I agree with others that he isn't coming in 2018. Even if another 'star' comes we are just too far away from contending against GS to even get out of the West. I could see it in 2020 as already mentioned by other posters. My guess is he stays with the Cavs for another 2 years and plays that out before moving on. Philly has some nice young players but they aren't beating LeBron/Cavs in the next year or two.

My best scenario is the Lakers stay on the path of developing the kids. Be patient. Sign Cousins next summer. Sign Klay in 2019 FA. Maybe we see LeBron in 2020 when Deng's contract is finally off the books. Yeah I understand JR/JC will not be kept under this scenario. It would also mean holding off on re-signing BI until 2020.

Okafor and Russell in Brooklyn as well as Nik Stauskas and another 2nd round pick and they gave Philly Trevor Booker.

Now the people that stabbed Okafor so hard that they hated Russell are having a crisis : 3

Booker is a nice short-term get for Philly for Okafor and Stauskas' carcasses.

Maybe Atkinson can get something more out of the two busts, and it was worth a gamble, but I bet this will be a nothing trade by next summer.

Yep, he would also be a very nice JC replacement once we ship Clarkson off.

Ooh, that's potentially the best piece in this deal depending on which 2nd the Sixers included. Good work by Marks there.

yup I was thinking the pick is what gives them the edge on the trade

Yeah, he's like a discount JC. I could see that happening, though I don't know the team pecking order for the waiver wire right now.
