kind of a catch 22 in regards to his shooting....on one hand I would like him to focus more on getting to the basket, and limiting his 3FGA's until he gets a little more confidence in his shot.....but then I am unsure how he gains confidence if he is not shooting and making 3's in the game.
Currently, there are 209 NBA players that attempt at least 4 3FGA's a game, and he is the only one below 28%...only 2 other players below 30%. Ball is currently @ 24.3%. |

He'll be fine. This year may not be a spectacular rookie year (though he's contributing all across the board and playing solid defense, which is awesome as a baseline), but I think he'll put in the work this summer (hopefully rework his shot) and come back awesome in year 2. Look at Ingram. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

yeah, that is not it....just caught between wanting to win (do not shoot the 3!), and knowing his confidence shooting the 3 is key in the big picture (let it fly!).....think it comes down to I just want him to make them |

He needs to shoot the overwhelming majority of his jumpers off the catch, not the bounce. |

I thought this also....I even thought the UCLA numbers supported this....but the LakerNation podcast has this NBA shooting coach on last week that worked with Lonzo at UCLA....and for some reason he said the opposite. He claimed Ball was better shooting 3's off the dribble....and that was a big problem with how the Lakers were using him?!?! He said a lot of things I did not agree with about Ball's game such as he "has beautiful touch around the rim with floaters, etc."....so probably should not put much stock into his claims. |

Ball has a ridiculously high basketball IQ. It's his crazy understanding of the game that allows him to impact every facet of the game. Obviously, we hope his confidence in his shot comes along and half the time, he makes his layup attempts unnecessarily difficult (taking off from too far, going for the reverse or using his left when he doesn't have to). Once he breaks those bad habits on his finishing, that alone will dramatically increase his shooting percentage and his threat level. The kid works too hard to not improve his shooting. He's 24 games in or so and historically he's been at the very least, a pretty good percentage shooter/finisher. |

Lonzo lead the team in rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. His shooting needs to improve but for the most part hes doing his part.

Looks like his legs were not stiff last night. He had his speed back.
Glad the team had some time off so Zo could get well, even though it made me have to read all of the Zo is bust posts for the past 4 days. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

Zo nearly lost the game with that desperation 3 pt attempt in the last minute of the 76rs game.
What was he thinking?
Luke is giving this ROOKIE far too much PT..

Like other great role-players, Ball’s career money will be made off catch and shoot jumpers. |

I keep hearing this, but it doesn't make a lot of sense. A two for one is worthless if you don't make the first shot. If you toss up a brick, it's a bad play, not some sort of high IQ play. |

The idea is that two “opportunities” to score are better than one. |

Listening to Luke's post game interview, it was a 2 for 1.
I thought it was the right play just a bit late as the rest of the team was dumb to it.

It wasn't an awful look or an awful miss. He back-rimmed it.
One play with a below average chance of yielding points + one normal play is better than one normal play. That was the right play. |

It was obviously a smart play, if anybody argues that it’s pretty clear they don’t know what they are talking about. |

Well he's right in that Lonzo should be taking more UCLA step back jumpers, which are available to him but he passes up. |

Semantics really, but it depends on your own personal definition of the word “role-player”.
For me, calling somone a role-player is far from an insult. Ball, to me, is a high end role player with future contributions on the level of Iguodala, Draymond Green, Rodman, Ben Wallace, and late Kidd. |

I really think that Lonzo doesn't like the offense that Luke has him running... and mainly because he's in the game with Brooke Lopez (less so Nance). To me, Lonzo needs to be in there with KCP, Ingram, Kuzma and Randle. If Kuzma is struggling a bit, then Nance. As we did last night, we need to push the pace.
I also feel that Clarkson is a much better fit with Lopez... mainly because he likes to stop the ball and, as a result, the play slows down. Lopez needs a slower and methodic pace.
Where am I going with this? Bench Lopez... not Nance, Lopez. Let Randle start at the 5. _________________ "He may say it's not you, it's him.... but it's really you." |
