Ingram For Three!… The Lakers kept the clock running. Ingram hit an open Lonzo in the corner. Lonzo attacked the closeout and kicked back to Ingram, who rose up and swished the game-winning three with 0.8 seconds left.

The Lakers have been killing themselves too often down the stretch. Tonight, they kept the turnovers at a minimum, got great execution for scores in crunch time and just enough defensively to hold onto the 107-104 win against the Sixers.

Luke said the game reminded him of Denver, where we controlled the game all night before falling apart down the stretch.
.
“The difference was tonight we ended up getting some stops,” he said, mentioning that it felt like a playoff atmosphere out there on the court.

While the Sixers did trim down a Laker lead, the Lakers didn’t fold. The young trio of Randle, Ingram and Ball helped carry them to the wing.

Despite the poor 12-24 freethrow shooting on the road, the Lakers were able to weather that by keeping their turnovers down to just 11.

Ball -- -- Triple-double pace in the first half with 6 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. He was pushing the pace and scoring with speed when he could. “I know I play better with a lot of pace and that’s what I was trying to do here,” Lonzo said. The extra days off between games definitely seemed to help. Very active. Love that he finished with 4 blocks and 3 steals tonight with no turnovers. Doing that on the road where possessions can’t be wasted? Very nice. He couldn’t get the triple double, but his impact on the game was there, unlike the last one. Great clock management down the stretch. He took and missed a two-for-one three, but that was a smart shot, especially with the D giving it to him. “I was proud of Zo for taking that shot,” Luke said. That gave us the ball back for the final possession, which he made sure we got the last shot as he attacked off the three line, drew the D and kicked out to BI for the game winner. Prior to that, some nice execution on the two-man game with Randle to set up scores. Very good orchestration down the stretch. The Stats: He scored 10 points on 5-11 shooting (0-3 from three) to go with 8 boards, 8 assists, 3 steals, 4 blocks, no turnovers and no fouls in 38 minutes. He was a +7. The Action: He spotted Nance open and fed him over the top of the D for the score. He fell asleep on D and gave up a layup ballwatching. He scooped up a loose ball and took it the distance for the score. He missed a three straight away. He blocked a layup on help D. He swiped a kickout. Quick swing pass to Ingram for the open three. He scooped up a board, pushed out with speed and scored the lefty layup. He rejected his man on iso D in the post. He was blocked on a drive in transition. Quick push out before the D could get set and he scored a layup at high speed. He kicked to Kuzma for the three. Second Half: He rejected his man from behind on the pull-up, so good at that. He hit Larry on a long hit ahead for a score. He missed a sideline three in transition. He attacked in transition, missed but bounced up and tipped it in. He was fouled on a floater with no call. He attacked right and banked in the runner. Lost on D, he gave up a three. He set up Randle on the two-man game for a layup. He set him up for FTs next time down. He missed a big two-for-one three with 28 seconds left. He attacked the paint next time down and kicked to Ingram for the open three with 0.8 left.

Lopez -- -- Man, that 1-5 from three stuff along with 4 turnovers…just so inefficient when the ball gets to him. The foul trouble sent him to the bench for the close and brought Randle out to take on Embiid defensively. He’s been making a strong case to be on the bench with Randle starting with how awful he’s been. The Stats: He scored 11 points on 4-9 shooting (1-5 from three, 2-2 from the line) to go with 5 boards, 1 steal, 1 block, 4 turnovers and 4 fouls in 20 minutes. He was a +5. The Action: He blocked Embiid’s drive. He faked the three on the wing, attacked and dunked. He didn’t hit rim on a three off a kickout. He missed a post turnaround. He sank a wide open sideline three on a kickout. He got Embiid to bite on an up fake and scored the up-and-under (might have been a walk). He was called for a travel. Second Half: He traveled trying to create in the high post on the first possession of the half. He missed an open wing three. He missed a three trailing the break, uggh. Wide open and he completely bricked a wing three. He swished a tough step-back in the post. He swiped post entry to ignite the break on the other end. He grabbed a loose ball and was fouled trying to finish, he made both FTs. Sloppy screen on a handoff, his fifth and he sat.

Ingram -- -- Baby Groot for the win! Growing up before our eyes this past year. He was 6-20 before that last make. The jumper looked shaky a few moments earlier when he badly bricked an open pull-up wing jumper. Still, he took the kickout from Lonzo, wasn’t rattled by the moment and swished the open three. Big shot by the kid off a pass from Lonzo. Our two youngest kids looking very poised in that final possession. Love, too, BI’s reaction. Held the pose, watched it swish, headed down court without any emotion. Hope we see many, many years of that to come. Some very good passing from Ingram, including a great drive and dish to Randle for a dunk late in the game. That’s the part of his game I want to see consistent. Luke said Ingram has been taking some nice steps forward in the last week, particularly in leadership. The Stats: He scored 21 points on 7-21 shooting (2-3 from three, 5-10 from the line) to go with 7 boards, 6 assists, 1 block, 2 turnovers and 3 fouls in 38 minutes. He was a +5. The Action: He swished a pull-up from the midrange to start the game. He dunked on the break off the save from Larry on an outlet. He missed a three on a kickout. He was blocked on a drive left. He blew past his man and threw down an And-1 reverse jam, he made the FT. He was rejected on an iso drive. He sank the sideline three off the deed from Lonzo. He blocked a jumper on a nice recovery. He got middle and bounced to Randle off the two-man game for the layup. He attacked in transition and drew FTs at the rim, he missed both. He attacked right and was blocked. He cleaned up a missed lob from Randle. He missed an elbow pull-up. He attacked a couple defenders at the end of the half and drew FTs, he made one. He had 13 points on 5-11 shooting. Second Half: He found Nance in transition for the dunk. He was fouled on a three attempt trying to beat the shotclock, he made two FTs. His dribble drive in transition came up empty but Nance cleaned it up with the D on its heels. He missed a pull-up wing jumper. He missed a layup off a hesitation dribble. He changed directions to go left, brought it back right and was blocked. He was rejected on a drive. He threw a pass away in transition. He airballed a drive. He was fouled on the perimeter for FTs, he made one. He sank a pull-up 16-footer after losing his man on a screen. Bad lob pass to Lonzo, turnover. He attacked and bricked badly. He attacked the paint and dumped it off to Randle for the And-1 dunk. He got middle off the Randle screen and bounced it to Julius for the layup. Wow, didn’t hit rim on an open pull-up. He took the kickout from the wing, wide open, he swisehd the three with 0.8 left.

Caldwell-Pope -- -- He had 10 points on 4-6 shooting in the first half. Streaky as hell, he went 1-6 in the second half and only hit 1-5 of his FTs. He was at his best when he could pounce on loose balls or knock balls loose and get out on the break. But there were times in this game defensively where he just got lost badly. Offensively, he was missing a number of off-balance midrange jumpers or jumpers with feet on the three line. The 37 minutes really makes little sense, especially with JC stroking it from three in this one. I guess his 1-5 from the line was slightly deceptive in that we did get the ball back on two of his misses and on one of them he sank a three…but still, hit your FTs. The Stats: He scored 13 points on 5-12 shooting (2-3 from three, 1-5 from the line) to go with 4 boards, 3 steals and no fouls in 37 minutes. He was a +7. The Action: He sank a long wing jumper, feet standing on the three line and he curled around a screen. He fell asleep and got backdoored for an uncontested layup. He stopped in the paint, stepped through and scored the layup. He drained a pull-up wing three in transition. He doubled the post and forced a bad pass from Embiid. He missed a long pull-up jumper out of a timeout. He drew FTs on a runner at the FT line, he missed both, got it back and hit the three instead. Second Half: He missed a pull-up wing jumper. He missed a long pull-up jumper. He iso’d and missed a pull-up jumper. He bricked another pull-up jumper. He let his man get middle and score. He swiped a kickout, pushed it out with speed and scored the And-1 layup, he missed the FT, we got it back to him and he missed a three. He poked a ball loose from behind. He scooped up a loose ball and was fouled from behind on the dunk attempt, he made just one FT with 1:17 left up 3.

Nance -- -- Up and down game from Nance. He was very aggressive on the offensive glass and in the passing lanes. That’s what you want. That’s where he can play to his strengths and impose himself. On the down side, I thought some of his defensive decisions down the stretch were not good. He got himself into no man’s land being indecisive and the Sixers got easy scores off that. The Stats: He scored 11 points on 5-7 shooting (1-2 from the line) to go with 7 boards (4 offensive), 2 assists, 2 steals and 4 fouls in 22 minutes. He was a +6. The Action: He save an outlet to Ingram under the hoop for a dunk. Left open under the hoop, he scored the oop from Lonzo. He poked a ball loose to ignite a break. He kicked out to Lopez for a three. He was held on a roll, he made one FT. Second Half: He dunked off the interior feed in transition. He followed up BI’s quick transition attack with a putback score. He regained a possession getting fouled on the offensive glass. He couldn’t get a putback to drop. He shed a defender in transition, took the outlet and dunked. Nice pass deflection when the Sixers had mismatches. He jumped a passing lane to knock a ball away (same possession) and we fed it ahead to him for the breakaway dunk. He was fouled with no call on a transition dunk attempt. He crashed the glass to get tied up for a jumpball, which he won. No reason to shade toward Embiid on the perimeter and his man cut for a dunk.

Kuzma -- -- One of those rare games where he couldn’t put the ball in the hoop. He made a three for his only points. Thankfully, we had several Zo stepping up so that one of our rookies was still giving us big impact minutes. The Stats: He scored 3 points on 1-7 shooting (1-3 from three) to go with 2 boards, 1 assist, 1 turnover and 1 foul in 19 minutes. He was a +2. The Action: Short on a pull-up jumper, but he regained the possession following it. He missed a long wing three on a kickout. He attacked a crowd and was picked off in early offense. He was blocked on a drive. He let Simmons get middle and an And-1 layup. He was blocked on a drive right. He sank a sideline three on a kickout. Second Half: He missed a wing three. He missed a jumphook in the paint.

Randle -- -- A lot of work against Embiid prior to the catch, trying to push him out deeper. He also didn’t want to send him to the line so he made an effort to avoid getting caught on the swing throughs. We also mixed up coverages with some double teams (more so earlier in the game). Down the stretch, we had Ingram/Randle teaming up and also used Randle/Ball to exploit Embiid’s foul issues for scores off the two-man game. They killed it. Until Jules booted a ball out of bounds on a drive in the final minute. That took some of the shine off the moment. Love the fight in Jules tonight. He wanted some payback and got it. Earlier in the game, he blew past Embiid for a throwdown. On the other end, Randle was undersized but was scrapping and learning from the last time they played. Good to finally see us get Randle the kind of minutes he needs. He ran 30 tonight and ran good chunk at the PF. We’ve just got to keep our best players on the floor as much as possible. Love going to war with him. The Stats: He scored 16 points on 7-15 shooting (0-3 from three, 2-3 from the line) to go with 3 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 2 turnovers and 5 fouls in 30 minutes. He was a -5. The Action: He sank a 16-footer off a pass from Ingram. He up-faked to lose Embiid, then attacked and dunked on him. He rolled to the hoop, got the bounce pass, and scored the layup under Embiid’s contest. He got tapped on a wing three when the offense sagged off. He missed a jumphook in early offense. He attacked, spun and missed the layup. He couldn’t finish a lob from Lonzo, but Ingram cleaned it up. He was called for using an off arm on a drive. He missed a 17-footer. He deflected a pass to ignite a break. Second Half: He was rejected from behind in the paint after taking too long to go up. He missed a one-dribble sideline three on a kickout. He missed a flat three on a skip pass. He rejected Simmons’ drive. He grabbed an airballed and powered it in. And-1 dunk off the drive and dish from Ingram, he made the FT. He rolled down the paint and scored a pumping layup on the pass. He drew FTs next time down on the roll, he made one. He ran into the pick to set it quickly, shed the defender, hard roll to the hoop and Ingram hit him for the layup. On an island defensively against Embiid on the other end and Randle poked the ball away for a stop. He iso’d, spun and lost the ball out of bounds with 47 seconds left up 2.

Clarkson -- -- He sank a couple of threes in the first half, the shot looking smooth going up and soft at the rim. I thought it was going to be a good shooting game off his first three attempt and he didn’t disappoint, sinking four threes (and probably fouled on a fifth). He scored 16 points in just 14 minutes, getting up 11 attempts in that short time. He was killing it. Probably should have been more minutes for him and less for KCP, who had 37, but was making questionable decisions on both end of the floor. Good job with the minutes he had. The Stats: He scored 16 points on 6-11 shooting (4-7 from three) to go with 2 boards, 1 steal, 1 turnover and 1 foul in 14 minutes. He was a -2. The Action: He missed a 12-footer coming off a screen for a pass. He gathered himself off a tough kickout and swished the sideline three. He swished the floater in the middle of the lane when the D had to respect a pass. Soft looking shot off the two-man game with Bogut for a three. He circled around a defender but missed the three. He attacked the paint and charged. He airballed a rushed three against the shotclock. Second Half: He swished a three on his first touch to start the fourth. He sank a tough step-back three when he couldn’t lose his man off the screens (feeling it). He missed a pull-up three off the high screen next time down. He was undercut on a three with no call and missed. He drew an offensive foul on a big, switched in the post. He crossed over on iso and scored a layup.

Brewer -- -- One minute. The streak is alive! The Stats: He didn’t have stats in his 1 minute. He was a +0. The Action: Nothing to report. Second Half: He did not play in the second half.

Bogut -- -- Our bigs were getting whistled for a lot of fouls tonight. We needed all those as our three centers combined for 13 fouls among the three of them. With Bogut on the floor with the seconds unit, that slid Randle over to the PF. The Stats: He scored 2 points on 1-2 shooting to go with 3 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 turnover and 4 fouls in 11 minutes. He was a -8. The Action: He set up JC for an open three with the between-the-legs pass. Illegal screen to turn it over. He stepped in front of a post feed to swipe a pass and ignite the break. He missed a tip. Wow, looked like a sure charge he drew, blocking foul fir his third. Second Half: He hit a 14-footer with a second left when a long rebound came right to him (he put it in without coming down). He drew a charge on Embiid in the post, going down well off the off-arm shove.

Hart -- -- short, but effective minutes from him. He had some hustle plays to regain possessions on the glass on both ends. He sank a three for his one shot and one make. Little stuff but no mistakes and positive contributions. The Stats: He scored 4 points on 1-1 from three (1-2 from the line) to go with 3 boards and no fouls in 9 minutes. He was a -2. The Action: Nice help on the defensive board to tip it away from a big. He crashed the glass and was fouled to regain a possession. He took the quick outlet from Bogut off a steal and drew FTs on the break, he made one. Second Half: He sank a sideline three on a kickout.

Walton -- -- The Sixers went small, sitting Embiid barely 5 minutes into the game, score tied 8-8. Luke didn’t match… Lopez out with 4:39 left for Randle, up 2. Kuzma in for Nance… This is our best lineup, and they pushed out to a 26-17 lead to force a timeout… Lakers doubling Embiid against Randle, mixing up coverages unlike last game… A 13-point lead was cut in half off a couple of Sixer threes… Brewer in for Ingram out of that… The Lakers led 32-25 after the first quarter… He started Bogut, Randle, Kuzma, Hart, Clarkson… JC looking good tonight… Up 7, he sat Bogut with his third foul for Lopez… Ingram back in for Randle, Lakers up 7… Same score as Lonzo came back in for Kuzma to go with a Lopez, Ingram, KCP, JC, Ball lineup… Bogut in. He picked up his second foul, so Randle came back in. Embiid out. Same score… Embiid back in… Nance in for JC, Lakers up 9… Embiid looks protected from the refs this game. Luke would get ticked about an Embiid call later in the game… Nance with his third foul and he sat for Kuzma, Lakers up 9 with 2:18 left… The Lakers led 57-49 at the half… The Lakers getting into the passing lanes for steals early in the third. They led 71-55, forcing a timeout… Up 15 when Randle came in for Nance, getting minutes with Randle and Lopez on the floor is something we should do a little more of… Bogut in for Lopez… Sixers reeling the Lakers in at the end of the third… The Lakers led 79-70 heading into the fourth… He started a Bogut, Nance, Kuzma, Hart, JC lineup… Refs gave Embiid another possession on what looked like a turnover off him and he hit a three. Luke called a timeout up 9. Ticked at the call… The lead was trimmed to 5 when he brought back in Lonzo and Ingram to go with Kuzma, JC and Randle… Lakers up 4 when the timeout came in the middle of the fourth… All starters back in with a 5-point lead… Julius in with 4 minutes left up 3 to cover Embiid with Lopez in foul trouble… Randle battling hard, but our help D was getting abused… Good two-for-one, the Lakers had good clock managed down the stretch. No timeouts and we hit a three with the defense scrambling and sucked in the paint by Lonzo…

Thanks DB! Good to see us back in the win column. Good to see this Laker team come back with an answer to the last Philly game, none better than a win on their home court.

It's disappointing how much louder the Sixers crowd is than ours. I know it's not a real big deal..but maybe we would have a few more wins if our team played in front of a more energized arena. Kinda sad that our home court doesn't decide to start making some noise until the last couple minutes of a close game.

Great game, I'm sure there were some of you that also gasped when Zo launched that brick in the closing minute, luckily we won.

I think the keys to victory were the Lakers defense and the fact the a young 76rs team was over confident since they manhandled the Lakers at home in their last meeting.

Thanks DB. This game was very close to being another “Can’t shoot, can’t win” game. Fortunately, they did enough in the paint (mainly Julius) not to have another nuggets game debacle. They also got some key steals on defense late.

Have to improve on FTs and get consistent shooters but the encouraging news is that Lonzo and Ingram led the way with the help of Randle.

That "brick" was a heads up play that helped us win. By doing so, we got a 2 for 1 and ended with the winning basket, leaving Philly less than a second to try to tie the game.

If Lonzo fails to take that shot, even if we hit a 2, Philly has time to come down, set up, and tie or steal the game with a 3-point shot. And if we don't hit a shot. Philly gets the last chance in a tied game.

Thanks DB. Frustrating game to watch. On the one hand it was good to see us go up by as much as 16 on the road - especially after they came and beat us at Staples. But on the other hand they missed at least 10 free throws. Unacceptable. They should have blown out the 76ers on national TV - if they just made their free throws.

The TNT broadcast sounded like a 76er home game. It got so bad I muted the sound. Oh, and talk about home cooking. They got seemingly all the calls. But, it was good for our young squad. I saw a little Phil in Luke last night. When the refs swallowed their whistles (strategically) which led to them getting back into the game, Luke for the most part let them play thru it - like Phil used to do.

Great win. This team frustrates me because my eyes tell me they are better than their record - talent wise. They are just young and have to go thru growing pains.

Once they figure it out the wins will start piling up. I like the culture Luke is building. We are on our way. Free agents will want to play with Lonzo, BI, Kuz and Randle (?).

Yup. I forgot how pissed I got when Phil didn't want to call a timeout

I was actually grumbling that they weren't going to go for a two for one and Zo surprised me. So I was good with it.

Nice result, nice effort. I have to say I'm most pleased that the guys won a game on the road against a likely playoff team. Whew !

Of course it was strategic, that out of bounds off bogut I hope the team files a complaint with the league lol.

Do some of you watch a lot of Sixers games ? I was surprised the way the team defended Ben Simmons. A lot of times we were sending 2 people at him while he was driving, even when our defender (most of the time Ingram) wasn't lost on the drive, resulting with a lot of open looks for their players at the three point line. No wonder why he had 15 assists. Sure he's a hell of a passer, but I'm not sure we defended him the right way. So my question is : do other teams defend him the same way ?

And since I'm talking about Simmons, and people like to compare him to Lonzo since they are both rookies, he benefits A LOT from Embiid's presence, I mean no one's wondering in Philly if they can count on Simmons in clutch time or when you need a bucket, because in these occasions the ball ALWAYS go to Embiid. I checked the play by play in the last 4 minutes of the game to sse if my memory was not failing me, and I checked for Simmons name :

1:20 Ben Simmons shooting foul
1:18 Ben Simmons defensive rebound
0:26 Ben Simmons defensive rebound

And that's it... He's a great player, but Lonzo's situation is much more difficult as a basketball player than Simmons...
