South Bay drops second straight game in loss to Erie
Quote:
For the first time this season, the South Bay Lakers lost consecutive games as they fell to the Erie BayHawks, 103-100, on Thursday night.
The Lakers (12-6) were led by 23 points from Vander Blue and double-doubles from Stephaun Branch (18 points, 14 rebounds) and Scott Machado (15 points, 12 assists),,
but could not find enough production off the bench as they fell to 0-2 on their current road trip.

Two things.
Scott Machado STILL needs to develop and get consistent with 3point range. That's one of the biggest reasons why he's not in the L. Otherwise, he's just Brevin Knight, and Knight doesn't hang in the modern NBA.
IT was good to see Vander rack up 14 assists a couple games ago. That's critical for him too. He's a natural scoring guard, but next level, the passing is critical to help boost offensive efficiency. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Career Nights From Blue, Zubac Help Lakers Defeat Charge
The South Bay Lakers snapped their two-game losing streak as they beat the Canton Charge, 114-109, on Friday night. Ivica Zubac scored a career-high 28 points, while Vander Blue pitched in 20 points and a career-high 14 assists for the Lakers
Was interesting to see Zubac play the 5 and Bryant play the 4 during their brief minutes out there. Bryant got a three in that time. Don't like that they took Zubac out at the end of the game when they put Bryant in. I'd have played them together, especially as Bryant had been scored on a few times prior. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

The South Bay Lakers suffered a heartbreaking loss in Ontario as they fell to the Agua Caliente Clippers, 118-117, on Thursday night. Vander Blue led the way for South Bay (13-7) with 24 points and six assists, while Thomas Bryant, Travis Wear and Ivica Zubac all pitched in 18 points for the Lakers. The Clippers (13-9) were paced by 28 points from Tyrone Wallace as they grabbed their second win in the season series.
Blue guided the Lakers to an early 32-29 lead after the first quarter with 10 points in the opening period. South Bay maintained their three-point edge, 61-58, at halftime despite 12 points in the second quarter from Agua Caliente’s Wallace.

OT but I listened to the 4th quarter of the Celtic-Rocket game. I don’t know who does radio for the Rockets but he was a lot of fun to listen to. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

guess it was a little ironic that the SB Lakers lost the game on a Bryant missed free throw in the final seconds.....guess he caught the virus from the big squad.
nobody answered me, but does anyone know why they did not review last play that I thought was a clear goal tend.....the Clipper literally scooped it off the rim in the final second...Coby and the announcers clearly thought it was a goal tend.

Seems to me that the refs, in the immortal words of Corey Brewer, "just ran out of talent." ........ sorry that's all I got man
I don't know what other ways Thomas Bryant can make that bridge to NBA speed without NBA PT.
Consistently switch on to guards defensively. He’s better at it but that’s how major weakness right now. If he can become good at that the nba better watch out!
I’ve wanted Thomas Bryant on the lakers since his freshman year so I’m rooting for him to make it on the team. Hopefully we make a few move at the deadline to open up space...I never liked the bogut pick up since I thought zubac has been ready to eat up those back up minutes, now with the emergence of Bryant, bugut seems even more redundant.
I kinda have the feeling bogut, Lopez and Randle won’t be back next season anyway. We will probably add someone like Noel or cousins to be the starting center and zubac will be the backup and Thomas will probably be the third string guy at the 4 and the 5 next season. He still has a strange gait when he runs so I think he will take another year to develop his base and spend a lot of time in the G league.
After all star break he will get run with us this season tho, kinda like zubac last season. They gave the vets plenty of time to up their market value already.
Thomas is torching the G league btw
22 points 7 rebounds 60% from the field and 44% from 3 to go with 1.8 blocks smh beast mode

I think that's a long term skill thing. When I watched Bryant on the floor in very limited PT, he looked a bit timid, a half step behind in the paint for rebounds, unsure on the offensive end, full of hesitance. NBA speed. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
