thought okc wants to cut salary.
if they let kcp go because he is pricey, then it is just nance and clarkson.
how is that? |
I think the trade idea is just a concept from Irwin, rather than reporting of something the teams are actually talking about. I doubt Indiana has given up on the idea of trying to resign him. As long as they have a chance to make the playoffs, I doubt they'll trade him this year. If they get into the playoffs and make a decent run, George might have second thoughts about joining a rebuilding team. |
Yes, that's where the "suggested" part comes in. I just thought it's a great idea, but we would have to hope that OKC's season goes down the crapper and PG13 is truly unhappy and publicly says he doesn't want to return. Which is highly unlikely, but I'm hopeful! |

That’s decent value for OKC.
Gives the Lakers George’s Bird Rights too, that’s significant.
Even though everyone knows he’s got eyes for LA, can OKC get more from somewhere else? Probably not, but you have to ask. |
I doubt they are interested in trading PG. |
I tend to agree. Pretty sure things would have to get horrible for OKC to think of trading him.
President does have a history of cashing in though. |

I think they have too much talent not to in the mix for the 8th seed until the very end.
Right now, I think there are 9 teams with a chance for the playoffs in the west and they are one of them. |

Whoever acquires Deng in on the hook for over 35 mill over two years.
Whoever acquires Deng would rather have at least seen him play.
He’s making 18 mill per.
Potential teams need to know where to file Deng on their roster.
Not playing him is counterproductive to trading him. |

Any team that trades for Deng is doing it primarily for whatever assets we bundle with him to get rid of his toxic contract. So he'd go to a crappy team that sees no hope for the next two years. That team may have no plans to even use Deng, and might buy him out or release him after the deal.
That said, I'd be surprised if he actually gets traded because I don't see that we have sufficient assets we would trade to get a team to take him. The only asset I see us willing to give up is Randle, and since any team that acquires him has to ink him to a huge deal, I don't see why they would bother to take Deng rather than just outbid us for Randle in free agency.
So it doesn't hurt to play Deng; but I don't see that would significantly change his tradeability or trade value. |

We’re both saying it would help, especially if he played well, but we disagree as to how much it would help. That’s fine.
You have to agree though that this team hen NBA version of “Let’s Make a Deal”. The LAkers are apparently expecting teams to trade for DEng from behind a curtain.
A very strange strategy, indeed. |

That's not quite what I said. I don't think Deng's value would improve just from getting playing time; he would have to play very well for that to matter.
But even if he was able to turn back the clock and played as well as he did his first year in Miami, I'm not sure that would even matter, because he's not going to come close to being worth his contract.
Bottom line: Teams aren't going to trade for Deng because they want Deng'; they'll trade for him because they want other assets we include to get rid of his toxic contract. |

Im sure OKC would want draft picks too though and I would give them draft picks. I would try to get a first for Randle and conbey that pick to OKC. |

I'm ok with Deng when Corey isn't being super Corey which only happens once every 12 games. |

Lakers have the second worse winning percentage in the NBA.
So perhaps Luke can explain how playing Deng will hurt the Team? _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

What happened to all the "he'd be taking time from our young core " rhetoric??
No need to compound the issue by adding just another body. "Grasping for straws."
This team needs a strong veteran leader who can actually contribute consistently.
Deng is not the answer. We have bigger issues that need addressing plus no other team is interested in bailing us out with his hefty contract. |

Agree, not Luke decision.
I think the FO would love to see Deng get desperate while not playing and accept a decent buy out. However, while that may be the plan, I doubt
Deng's agent allows him to bite. The FO will stick to the plan, IMO. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Pretty amazing that the Nets got a 1st and 2nd rounder for Carroll who is actually contributing. Meanwhile Deng, who could probably contribute is sent home bc we have 43 PFs. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |
