Since FDR there have been 6 two term Presidents. Given the opportunity, who would you vote to serve a third term? I add John F Kennedy though he didn't serve two terms because he was assassinated.

Barack Obama
George W Bush
Bill Clinton
Ronald Reagan
Dwight D Eisenhower
Harry S Truman
John F Kennedy

I'd say Obama for sure. Ike was good and deserving, but if he had a third term, there would be no JFK. Though I could see JFK being worthy of a third term, had he the chance, I'd be satisfied with two terms for himself, followed by two of his brother. Clinton may not have been worthy but then with a third term with him, maybe we have no 9/11, but almost certainly no Iraq war and all that this unleashed.

hmm my first instinct was Clinton....chose Obama

but i didn't think about how diff the rxn would be with Clinton....i've pondered how it would have been with Gore but not clinton

i was also thinking what more time with Kennedy would have meant. but now every movie i see has Kennedy on the floor writhing in pain injected with drugs etc. i wish their was way more transparency from the executive branch....like literally posting their (bleep) up for ppl to see blood pressure cholesterol etc psych eval might be too far lol although i never thought we'd elect someone like Trump

how in the world can there be such a disconnect.....like when i see Obama or Clinton i see the best of what America has to offer. not born with inherited wealth, single moms raising them, incredibly smart with good educations.

how the frak can people see Trump and be like yeah thats the best. physically, mentallly, spiritually, emotionally, in any regard

I voted Other. I pick Grover Cleveland. The jokes about Cleveland going to the White House would be worth it.

I'd have LBJ serve a second term. If that doesn't count, Eisenhower.

LBJ didn't want to do 2. Why Eisenhower?

LBJ was planning to announce his candidacy, but didn't at the last minute because he thought Humphrey would win. Oops.

For Eisenhower, he's far from perfect, but to name a few achievements: ending the Korean War, continuation of New Deal programs and expanding Social Security, the Interstate Highway System, the creation of NASA, desegregation of the armed forces, the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960, enforcement of Brown v. Board of Education that integrated public schools, and the nominations of William Brennan and Earl Warren to the Supreme Court.

On LBJ I think he was overwhelmed by the Korean war and the assassination of JFK.

You make a good case for Ike. I liked him as a President. I liked Harry "The Buck Stops Here" Truman also.

Ha, republicans and the rich made sure no president could serve more than two terms after FDR rebuilt the middle class with the new deal (after the huge financial collapse of 1929), and gave the rich the shaft with a 94% tax rate above a certain amount (i think it was 200k at the time). Of course this made FDR extremely popular with the general population - 4 terms,

the rich republicans couldn't have that could they?, lol.

Lyndon Johnson was one of the greatest domestic policy presidents. I’d vote for him.

Yep. LBJ was President during the Revolutionary War. He surrendered West Point to the French.

Was that before or after Macho Man Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan piledrived Hitler off the cage during Wrestlemania 10?

I think that is a fair call, but then . . . there is that other thing in Southeast Asia, that also had dire domestic ramifications. He, as did Nixon, as did JFK, as did Ike, inherited a no-win situation--for a politician. Unfortunately, as good a politician as he was for driving through his agenda, it was also his downfall. He feared losing to communism, and at the time, this would be the death of any politician--which is why maybe some of us are not as endeared with politicians as our saviors as others herein. Someone who was less a politician and more of a historian or political scientist, or simply more pragmatic and less ideological, could see that US troop involvement--getting 59K Americans killed, while tearing the country apart--only delayed the inevitable, and might do the right thing, rather than the political thing.
