Luke Walton just stood up and started clapping, so pleased with Kuzma and Nance’s collective defensive effort as LAL now lead 84-71. |

That help side defense has been awesome.
Great improvement from the start of the year. |

Always knew he could be a good playmaker if he wanted to. But I liked seeing him be more active with his hands and in general defensively. Once he puts it all together on top of the scoring... |

He only had 3asts this game but his passing really impressed me, hopefully he keeps it up. _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

We know he has the offense, the D and passing are starting to show themselves. |

Yup. It's why I think he'll eventually be a good defender |

He's basically Klay Thompson, maybe slightly less shooting but more diverse finishing. If he wants to become an elite O option, needs better handles. I'm not worried about his defense. The passing potential is there as well. |

His help defense made me feel better about the freaking side line turnovers. |

Stats don't jump out tonight but I thought he played pretty well. His shot blocking has really picked up lately. He went from 0 blocks in 7 games in October to 0.2 blocks in 13 games in November... To 0.7 blocks in 14 games in December... To 1.2 blocks in 5 games so far in January. |

It's the quality of the dimes I think, 2 dunks and 2 and-ones. It's only going to open up his game even more. |

Nice game even he didn't score that much. Few intelligent plays and few good assists. Defensively, especially on the boards, he need to improve a lot. I think his struggle comes from lack of strength to fight with bigger players.
I think this should be his main focus during the summer. Maybe to take Julius trainer for training. Don't know his name. |

Glad to see impact when his 3 point stroke wasn't falling. Some of those dimes were sweet. |

I don't make much of this, but Kuzma's DRPM is outlier bad. -2.2 puts him dead last for power forwards. Second to last? -1.4.
Matches with the 2-man lineup data I'd seen somewhere on LG. Again, too soon to be worried (Julius wasn't outlier bad but he also sucked as a rookie) but it's interesting. |

Well we shouldn't be too worried about his defense since he's a rookie, but your stats just back up what we can see, he's right now a bad defensive player, it's pretty obvious. But I don't think he has major physical deficiencies that would prevent him to be at least decent in the future... Was it a red flag before the draft ? |

As long as Kuzma gives max effort on defense, I'll be okay, regardless of what the numbers say. Of course he'll have to not miss assignments, lose his man, of fall asleep, but many young players do that and it can also be learned. |

Last game Kuzma jumped out on help defense and contested his teammates man multiple times. (At least 3 notible and got at least a block on one of them). He was not doing this earlier in the season.
The focus. Awesome. |

The only negative last night was that the 3 ball wasn’t hitting. I have never liked the lack of FTs from a big but he has plenty of time to work on that. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I think that the most important point is that his defense is improving. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Kuzma the last couple weeks has shown some great passing ability. He has some great court vision when he wants to use it. His biggest issues to me currently is team defense and ball handling. The defense is improving but the ball handling will require an offseason of focus. |

There is an article today on CBSsports that "repicks" the 2017 Draft, they still have Zo at #2, but they have Kuzma at #5..
Which another way of saying the Lakers got Top5 talent with the #27th pick....! _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

It does provide some comfort every time we lose knowing we don't have a pick. It's like getting our 2018 lottery pick in advance and on a discount. |
