I need a replay .
I thought he was clapping during other plays while on the bench.
Maybe he just doesn't like Larry?

Edit: Julius stood up with the rest of the bench. He was just clapping softly.

He stood up and clapped. Did not celebrate that much but it's fine.

I noticed the same thing. I even replayed it a couple of times. This is not the first time I noticed him moping on the bench. This is why LNJ is such a valued player. Great team mate who gets excited for everyone no matter what his situation is. You can see why LNJ is revered by his team mates.

I don't think it's personal, he's not the type of guy that goes nuts cheering from the bench for anyone. And, that's OK.

If that was Lonzo, there would be headlines saying that he doesn’t care about his teammates tho.

Not gonna come back here to this thread to gloat about my assessment of Julius, it’s only one game and we won. Still, he did not look very engaged last night.

Or maybe posters here live with a middle school mentality

I'll volunteer to be labelled as such, at least in this particular area. I do find myself closely watching body language, individual interactions, etc., I have for years. I guess because the teams at the top I've observed have a notable amount of daps exchanged, and body language, that suggests they're dialed in with, and supportive of, each others.

Sometimes I don't get that w/this team. One of my most middle schoolish mental issues is how Kuzma runs away from some of his team mates after a great play. I'm not talking about when they need to get back on D. I'm talking when the opportunities to exchange at the FT line.

I'm already looking forward to that dynamic changing next season when there's the contractual stability for our roster because of the decisions that will be made.

Yes sir. I'm a 50 plus year old Laker fan that thinks like a middle schooler at times. Guilty.

Fair enough. I’ve been around long enough to know that different people approach things in different ways. Magic was extremely different than Kareem. Guys have their own habits, I wouldn’t read too much into that.

While there are certainly body language cues, there are also plenty of studies that show perceptions of body language are often just a projection of the observer's own mood.

When it comes to body language and sports, I think fans often see what they want to see.

If a team is playing lousy, they perceive the player's body language as dejected. If the team is playing great, they perceive the player's body language as positive.

What if the observer is just a hater? Or a troll?

Gotta agree with that. It's a bit of mixed elements.

Bad game because of the matchup. Kinda sucks for it to be national when you're trying to trade him.

My originally thought out post was going to use the examples of Magic & Kareem, and Shaq & Kobe. So definitely a fact. In short, we long time fans know it's about guys sublimating their games and egos to win. Nothing else matters if you win.

Hell, we can wait to read the book.

Julius doesn't even get hyped for his own dunks.

Popovich said about Julius what we should all take into account. He said Julius was the rare kind of player that was over themselves and very coachable.

I've never seen Julius really hyped up about anything spectacular. He got hyped when Metta had a great final game for the Lakers and he was animated when he was telling Chandler but he pretty much has always seemed like a guy who doesn't get too high or low and always has a pissed disposition.

Him standing with his teammates and clapping during Nance's dunk is him reacting how he always reacts. Now if Randle was Robert Sacre'ing for everyone else but just was muted when Nance did something then I'd be worried. But I think it was just Jules being Jules.

This.

He's never really animated

Yeah I mean he posterized Embiid and completely no-sold it. Randle seems just the no nonsense kind if personality. It reflects in his off the court activities too and mentality. Just not the animated type.

Maybe if we won a championship but he's more quiet confidence no nonsense type. That's actually probably why Popovich liked him so much.

I could see Popovich maximizing Randle's abilities as a Spur.

For me, the biggest improvement in Randle's game this year has been his defense. I really wish the team would play him at center more, because that is likely his best role going forward.
