I followed him pre draft. Really wanted him on the lakers. Guy has a feel for the game and seems high energy and confidence. He will make it.
Im actually looking forward to a hart/peyton backcourt. That should
Be fun

The Mitten doesn't need to do much here if hes the primary back up. with a healthly lonzo, he's playing 14 min a game. with hart, kuz, clarkson and nance he just needs to take care of the ball, push the pace, don't get abused on d, find a open man and hit an occasional shot/layup. i think that is well within his ability

I thought he looked good out there tonight. Only Payton and Hart were a net positive tonight, with Payton being a +11. That helped the Lakers lose by single digits when they were trailing by 20.

He has flaws as a player, which are well known. But I thought he played well. Caruso has been a disaster as a pro. Give GP a shot.

Agreed. He looked worthy of getting more minutes, albeit in a limited bench role.

But that's miles better than Caruso, who looks like he belongs in a church league. Anyone but Caruso- I'd prefer to never see him in a Lakers uniform again.

Interesting signing. The kid can defend, is quick and long, loves open court play, but can't shoot a lick.

GP II was Pac-12 defensive player of the year as a senior at Oregon State. This suggests that he will at least make a concerted effort in that area. How that translates to the NBA is yet to be determined.

Yeah he was really solid, but no reason why GP II can’t have the same effect, he looks to be a real good passer and he does have somewhat of a offensive game... I think we got a good steal here regardless of how he turns out to be.

As long as he pushes the pace I will care less about his shot.

"the shot" or lack of, seems to be a theme here...

why not give bryce alford a look? he is shooting 41% from 3 in G league and knows where to space himself for open looks with lonzo.

Yeah Payton was a very good defender in college. I think playing cold turkey just as he's walking in the door and joining a team is a tough test. I'm pretty confident that, given time, his defensive prowess would be more evident in Laker games.

VERY pleasantly surprised how he pushed it on offense, kept the pace moving fast and found players for easy scores. I did not expect this from reading through his post-college stats, notes, comments. Time will tell on whether this is repeatable. Nonetheless I really like seeing he rose to the occasion and got off to a good start.

Nice Laker debut for The Mitten!!

I liked how he pushed the pace too. I'm sure that is what Luke was looking for out of him. In time he could end up being a half-way decent second or third point guard.

From the sounds of it Ennis and Caruso(surprisingly) are leaving the invitation door wide open for him. I would love to see him stick around.

From his college stats, it looks like GPII can rebound at least as well as Lonzo. That will help to get us going in transition.

Hopefully our short man's David Nwaba.
Can't wait for him to get an alley when Lonzo comes back.
