I'm impressed he has the strength and stamina to shoot 18 3 pointers (mostly from NBA range) off the dribble or when tightly contested. But it also rubs me the wrong way too. Don't know why. Maybe I just think they could've gotten better shots on some of those plays. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

i just checked nbadraft.net for (bleep) and giggles and saw they have luka doncic at #6
cmon man
Wasserman at B/R is much better, and yet he has Doncic at #3:

The Luka backlash has begun!
I do think the lack of exceptional athleticism will cause some FO's to hesitate. I mean when you walk though your "How could this guy fail" scenarios.....that's his biggest flaw, right?
sure, but somehow trae young is #2 on their board? i don't see how you can be high on trae and down on luka _________________ substance over style

I don't see it as a point of failure given that he's not a bad athlete at all and he's performed so well against adult international competition at such a young age. His floor is quite high.
I can understand his athleticism being a concern when projecting his ceiling, but I don't see the intersection of superior athleticism and skill in any of the other top prospects in this draft to put them ahead of Doncic's elite skill package. Maybe Porter if he remained healthy or if Ayton was a better rim protector.

Cause he’s putting up better numbers in his freshman year than Steph did in his junior year and against better competition while Doncic plays in Europe.

NCAA accessibility to watch games. Trae, by position, is also a better athlete than Doncic by position, though I'd still start Doncic at 1. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

if your job is to watch games it's not that hard to watch doncic play. i can excuse the common fan for not seeing doncic play but i cannot excuse the supposed experts. _________________ substance over style
Dzanan Musa as a mid-teens pick continues to confuse me. He's a guaranteed non-defender, a streaky shooter (his strength), and he makes silly decisions when he gets sped up. He's a late-1st draft n' stash at best, imo.
Also, DX keeps trying to make Justin Jackson happen when he's barely functional on offense.

Neither. Just explaining what their thought process likely was. There’s been guys who killed in Europe and struggled here albeit not at Doncic age but there have been very few if any to do what Young is doing. The most comparable is a two time MVP/champion.
I haven’t seen Doncic in more than just highlights, have you? I don’t think anybody can form a reliable opinion based off highlights and stats so I don’t have an opinion of who’s better.
If he keeps making plays like this https://twitter.com/flyer_faithful/status/954784074677325824 wouldn't surprise me if he went early 2nd I guess, idk. Also wouldn't surprise me if he stayed in school another year, because his family is well off
If he can really handle like that. Ya, I'm very down to take him. He kind of goes against our draft thought-process though - drafting guys pretty ready to contribute
Billy Preston - who was being held out while KU was investigating the origins of the car Preston was driving when he got into a car accident last November - has decided to turn pro. He'll play for Bosnian team BC Igokea for the remainder of the season and then enter the draft.
Preston's an athletic 6'11 face-up PF with questions about his shot selection and motor. He's not typically mocked among the top 50-60 players in the draft. But he's young with more upside than you typically find in the 40s pick range, so may be someone to monitor at the Lakers pick.
^^^guy was a 5 Star...top 20 player in the country coming out of high school....not that upset that he will not be taking the court for Kansas.
I saw a couple full Oak Hill games last year because I apparently have no life, and Preston looked very Andray Blatche to me. But you never know if the light is going to go on for some of these young guys.

I don't think the Lakers deliberately drafted guys that were ready to contribute last season.
I just see Kostas lacking range but playing backup 5 and pushing tempo after rebs. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I don't watch NCAA enough to give an opinion on who is #1, but I watch a little bit of European basketball. If someone is better than Doncic is this draft, the kid is really, really good. I've never seen someone doing what he does at the age of 18. He is arguably the best player in Europe right now, which is crazy. _________________ ....

Trae Young 48 Points / 5 Rebounds / 8 Assists / 7 turnovers in OT loss @ Oklahoma State....but he had horrible shot selection.....14 of 38 FG, 8 of 19 3FG and 12 of 12 from the line.
Too many TO's and bad shots from the guy....he is carrying his team while killing them at the same time.
Sags is interesting....19 year old Sophomore with some decent offensive moves, a soft touch, and a great rim protector.....but he is only 6'9"ish (actually only listed @ 6'8").
Trae Young looks amazing at the college level, but I wonder how he will translate to the pros. Nobody on Oklahoma State could guard him... even their so called defensive stopper looked like Lopez trying to guard him. His FT shooting looked Hardenesque... it was like an automated machine hitting perfect swishes every shot. On the other hand he seems really small. I think Ball is a better playmaker but that kid's shooting and quick movement reminds me of a young Chris Paul.
