Agreed. No way magic comes in and throws everyone out, misses out on 2018 FAs and then tanks. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

What's he going to do without George, Lebron, or even Cousins? Give $35M to Avery Bradley and Nerlens Noel? |

That’s what I fear. Moz/Deng all over again but with slightly younger guys. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

That would certainly be better than MozDeng, but yeah, the concern is paying big money to role-players on a young team still looking for a star.
So why not pseudo-tank with a rookie scale roster bolstered by cheaper young guys with some untapped potential like Looney, Joe Harris, Seth Curry, and even Noel?

The Rich Paul blue plate special. I'd be ok with it if neither got guaranteed money past 2020. |

This should always be in consideration. IMO it's always been 2 max or 0 max. What to do if we whiff again on max FAs is the more interesting conversation to me. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

If the Rox end up pursuing LBJ, would you do this?
Try to sign PG13, but also take off the Rox hands:
1. Gordon (would have 2 years at around 13-14m/year)
2. Capela (RFA?).
So how would a summer where we snag PG13/Gordon/Capela look, while letting the Rox get LBJ?
I think there are some nice pieces on the Rox that will have to be shed in their pursuit of LBJ. Why not capitalize on them? I'll take Eric Gordon over JC all day, and they have comparable salaries. Of course I wouldn't spend the cap entirely on these guys, but up to punting 1 max to 2019 or signing PG13 (and not Boogie alone). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I was doing a research for NNoel - CCapela. As you must know, Ccapela is a RFA & Noel a UFA. They are very similar player ofensively and defensively, although Capela is very good rolling to the basket. T think our center next year shall be either of these two guys.
I also prefer resiging KCP in the 13-16 range to signing ABradley in the 18-25 range. Also I think KCP will take a 3yrs or 2&1 but ABradley only will take 4yrs.
I insist in addressing our Backup PG and insist the ideal guy is JJack. Jack is 34+ old so he will take a one year or 2 yr deal. He is doing 2.5mil this year.
BTW he was signed by NY in September 15, 2017 |

Honestly, would be disappointed if we signed KCP to a 3 year deal and Noel to a big deal too. That would probably eat up 25-30m combined, no? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

What does that mean? If we don't get 2 max players, we don't get 2 max players. But you have to pick yourself off the mat and have a Plan B (and punting 2 max to 2019 is insanity). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Honestly, if we can't land big time FAs this summer, then I wouldn't mind doing one year deals like we did with KCP. At least we won't be in a bind like the MozDeng deals. |

I still maintain that we have to:
1. abandon any more 2 max plans. If 4-5 offseasons didn't tell us that it's a failed plan, then why should we try again?
2. sign quality players on deals that would still allow us to punt 1 max to 2019. Build some veteran stability on the team. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I'm not sure that KCP gives you anything that you can't get from Hart.
I'd be OK with him on a placeholder deal, but I wouldn't get him multiple years.
If we strike out on the big FAs, I'd rather either (1) spend it on lesser guys we see as true long term pieces or (2) let the young guys play and hope they do well enough to intrigue free agents next year. |

Yes, of course.
Capela/Julius
Kuzzz/Nance
B.I./ Bellinelli
PG13/J Hart
Lonzo/ Goron
that's a playoff team... |

I would be pretty excited about this, solves our backup PG problem, unloads JC, we let KCP and Brook walk while we replace them with Capela and PG! I don't even think we need a second max in 2019, just some roster tweaking as Ball and BI come into their own. |

I would choose that over paying too much for non-star players....or do this one year KCP type deals again. Maybe get one or two of those guys on "cheap" deals....2+1 (team option) variety! If they do not work....come off the books with Deng and Clarkson (if not traded)....if they do work, have them on super cheap deal for 3rd year with cap space to sign FA's....then their full bird rights the following year.
Do not forget about Hezonja! |
