Well, I think the Bucks got a new GM last year, and Kidd must not have had a very good relationship with him.

Chris Haynes tweeted that Kidd hasn't been told yet (21 minutes ago). Yet, SC has a tweet saying Woj has been told Kidd was fired (36 minutes ago). Bucks can blame Kidd for piss-poor play all they want, but I don't want to hear talk about organizational disfunction when the Bucks are apparently telling reporters that Jason Kidd has been fired before they actually tell Jason Kidd. Messed up.

Wow. Also very bush-league of the Bucks for telling everyone first but Kidd. An average coach who only missed the playoffs once (granted in the Leastern Conference).

Well I guess I got to witness one of Kidd's last few coaching games.

However yeah I did expect the Bucks to be better than they are.

The stagnant Milwaukee Bucks shook things up by firing head coach Jason Kidd Monday.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was not happy with the news. So much he called up Kidd and offered to help save his job, reports Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

Antetokounmpo is understandably close to Kidd — he’s been the coach who helped transform the Greek Freak into an NBA superstar. Kidd is on his way to the Hall of Fame as a player, and as a coach had the vision to put the ball in Antetokounmpo’s hands as a point guard. Antetokounmpo trusted Kidd.

However, the Bucks’ growth has been stagnant — this is a team where the players talked about being a 50-win, top-four team in the East with a strong defense, instead they are a team on the way to around .500, barely hanging onto a playoff spot, with the point differential of a team that wins 36 games. They are not taking a step forward, and the Bucks — with the approval of ownership, which was very close to Kidd at one time — approving the move.

There was nothing Antetokounmpo could have done. It’s life in the NBA. That doesn’t mean he has to like it.

This franchise once had Oscar Robertson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar on the same team and won a title together back in the 70s.

To a lesser extent the Ray Allen/Glenn Robinson teams were good(no titles though)

So yeah they do have a history. They aren't the Clippers.

You mean like those Sam's Club workers who showed up to work only to see a sign taped to the main entrance telling them their store was closed?

Giannis offered to intervene on Kidd's behalf: "What can I do? I'll call the owners,
I'll call my agent."

One of those Sam's Clubs is about 7 minutes from my place.

Milwaukee is an Algonquain word for beautiful land. And it was pretty swell there by the lake before white people screwed it up. Trump just empowers all the racists doesn't he?

As for greatness, Kareem did lead the Bucks to a championship, so there's that....

I don't see that any other coach will do much better. Obviously the Freak is great, but he's alone.

Lakers should definitely go after him for an assistant's spot. This is the kind of thing that Kerr, Pop and Sean McVay would do.

I'm absolutely against having him as a head coach, but if he goes for that assistant's role, it could do wonders for our young talent. Certainly would be a refreshing step up from the idiots that Luke has lined up next to him.
