GPIII scored two points in garbage minutes last night. He's undersized but uses his speed to his advantage.
He hustled and played hard but didn't look too good playing off of the ball because he has no legit jump shot.
The South Bay Lakers needed him more last night than the LA Lakers but the experience should serve him well.

Who was playing lead guard?
Caruso at the time. Caruso assisted on GPII's only points.

The earliest Payton II will see the court with South Bay is Friday, when they host the Windy City Bulls at the UCLA Health Training Center at 7 p.m. PT.
Payton II is playing for SB Lakers head coach Coby Karl. Payton Sr. played for Coby’s father George Karl on the Seattle Supersonics. Coby and Gary Jr. have known each other a long time, so this is kind of a reunion of sorts and a special relationship that will grow over time.
GP2 showed a lot tonight. Even though it was a throw away game, he's able to hit shots, create his own shots, attack the basket, pass, rebound...Great game.

Any chance he makes the roster next year?
I doubt it. I think the chance of him getting a training camp invite (if not from the lakers then some other team) is very high, but I don't see him making another nba team. He's showed some flashes, but too late, and not enough. _________________ Kobe

I think it's him vs. Caruso for the 3rd PG/13th - 15th man role. Let them battle it out in preseason and see how it goes

I think he's still such a limited player offensively (i.e., can't shoot) that he'll have to demonstrate that he's improved his distance shooting a full click or two in the off-season if he is to compete for a return to the Lakers. Ghastly bad at the charity stripe for anyone, including the vision-impaired. _________________ “These GOAT discussions are fun distractions while sitting around waiting for the pizza to be served.”

he can get hot at times similar to ennis.
truth is, if you had to choose, go with GP's revenge with a much higher ceiling than ennis or same thing ennis. Who would you choose? I'm choosing GP. I'm tired of waiting on ennis to become a consistent nba player. he might become that guy one day but if i have a better (PROSPECT) i'm choosing the Prospect. sorry ennis.
