Can someone explain the 45 day rule to me that Adkindo referenced?

Does that mean a 2 way contract guy can only be on the big squad for 45 days in the season?

Just cut Ennis and sign Caruso to a real contract.

Thank you!

I like Caruso, I think they keep him around next season.

45 games

no, it's 45 days...probably be lucky to get more than 25 games. It includes practice and travel days. Then must be converted to NBA contract or the player can only play in G League.

Quote:
NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and no more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players with four or fewer years of NBA service are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.

Caruso made the weekly CBS NBA Rookie Power Rankings

Quote:
10 Alex Caruso
LOS ANGELES LAKERS SG
Last week: Unranked
Stats this week: 4.7 points, 4.3 assists, 2.0 rebounds

This might be the only chance to get Caruso into the rookie rankings, so we had to pounce. His counting stats look pretty weak, but consider this before you get all hot and bothered: Caruso's net rating was a plus-31.8 (!) this week in nearly 26 minutes per game, and he dished out 13 assists compared to just one turnover in a 3-0 week for the Lakers. You've got to give props where props are due, and Caruso deserves to be in the rankings.

LINK

he is our 4th rookie this season to be listed! Ball and Kuzma are regulars when healthy....and Hart has made the list this season.

Yeah, that surprised me from Lavine.

Give him a 2 year deal already. I think I heard Stu say we're undefeated when Caruso plays 18 minutes or more.

Caruso showing why he was selected to the SEC All-Defensive Team in college.

Caruso had some nice boxouts during the part of GT's video where he chastised the guards for not getting rebounds.

Caruso enabling Clarkson to play the bench 2/combo has been the best thing that's happened for him this season.

Pretty decent game by AC21.

Caruso was 3 - 3 for 7 points, 4 boards and 3 assists in 14 minutes vs Raps.

Caruso does the small things you want players to do that win games. And then he throws in a highlight dunk per game on top of that. #BaldHeadedEagle #SoarAlexSoar

I hate the nickname, it's rediculous and has no identifiable relationship to him or his game, I much prefer Team Accountant.
With that out of the way, the guy has really been impressive. He alone has forced me to throw aside my previously held beliefs pertaining to short, balding white guys. The guy can play.

How many of the 45 NBA days does Caruso have left on his 2-way contract?

Now that he's getting minutes over Ennis (DNP 2 games in a row), I wonder when the Lakers will have to decide on what to do with him

Not very many. So they basically need to decide now. #KeepCaruGOAT

They can just send him back down to the D-League as soon as Ball is back, and then sign him in the offseason (saves like 500k of capspace if we plan to sign him for a couple years).

Gotta love Hubie. He was a basketball treasure about 30 years ago, but it's clear he's too damn old to care to do the requisite homework he needs to before a game.

On the other hand, maybe if Caruso had followed Jason Kapono's wisdon from some years ago and changed his name to Alex Carusivic or Giuseppe Caruso, he probably would have garnered more interest from scouts and might have been drafted.
