So now we need to talk about what playtype you want run for him.

Because it sure aint posting up.

I don't have his Synergy data. But, it wouldn't hurt to see him in Horns sets. He's capable from midrange as well.

I get that he's in the 41 percentile for post, but I'm guessing, that's also a career low, because he rarely gets those touches, rarely gets into offensive rhythm, and when he actually does (like Chicago), he doesn't even finish games.

Dude is still a 20ppg per 36. Jordan Clarkson's hot shooting won't last forever.

Yep.
He's 70+ %ile the last 2 years.
I'd like to know if his post up % changes when he's playing with Larry vs Julius vs Kuzma.

I mean, that pretty much says it all.

I'm all for Lopez shooting 3s, but not 40% of his total field goal attempts from there. Defenses win because that's the 3rd best thing he does.

That makes sense when we compartmentalize the single player.
Still not sure about the post up though.
Lakers are middle of the pack in running that playtype.
Julius actually gets a similar number of post ups a game and he's in the 62%ile.

Brooklyn now rarely runs post ups while they were top 5 the last 2 years. And I dont think it helped them win the last 2 years. I guess the argument can be made that the Lakers roster is better than Brooklyns old roster...

When Lonzo comes back, post ups are going to minimize. But right now, it doesn't hurt to actually maximize scoring utility with the given talent.

As for Brooklyn, Lopez was on that team last year with #1 pace. I don't see why it's an issue.

For me it's just situational in how you use him. He's versatile, take advantage of that as the action dictates. If you've got a guy like Speights on him who can't defend well but is an offensive threat, you go at him. Don't want him leading the Magic in scoring? Make him work on D. Get easy scores/fouls and have him sit. Abuse it. If you play soft and hang out on the perimeter, you are now losing that matchup and asking for trouble.

Yeah, last game Randle wrecked shop on Speights, but Speights shot lights out, so Randle's scoring was effectively neutralized.

I thought he had a clear advantage over Biyombo last night too. He hit a floater from 10' and got another layup on the matchup. 2 of 4 from 2-point range, 0-3 3-pt.

It seems that B. Lopez is a good player if he plays inside.
That is where a 7 footer should play.

Can't see why Walton plays him at the 3 point line. This is not the Warriors.
Walton is a first time coach and doesn't know how to adjust to his personnel.

If we don't re-sign Brolo I wonder if the Nets would try to sign him? They have a deep hole in the middle and could really use some inside presence.

I'm sure their fans would love it but their FO would definitely low-ball him.

After the season he had this year, I"m guessing he's not going to get a huge offer from anyone. Maybe something like $10M based on past contributions. It seems to me the Nets are the best place for him.

What do you know, Lopez is still a 20 ppg center when Luke plays him more than 20 MPG..

Imagine that...

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=x_ud-L0smCM 1:40 even Fox got a little off the ground.. what we perceive as set-shots, can't forget that they do get a couple inches off the ground still.. Lopez wasn't....

Yeah, Lopez is still a 20 ppg center when played starter minutes, aka not 20 MPG like Luke had been doing.

He's still VERY valuable to a contender that needs a center. New Orleans, and Cleveland would be the places I'd be talking to if we were going to move him.

If Cleveland was willing to part with that 1st for Lopez I'd strongly consider that. Very strongly.

Problem is, they'd probably ask us to take Thompson's contract as a result. We could, but if we did, it means no max chase. But it also means that if the Lakers got lucky in the draft and the Nets pick became Ayton or Doncic that it would be worth it.

That said, the pick would have to be top 5 for that to happen. and I think 5-8 would have more reserves as to who could contribute to the team. Unless we traded that pick for an established talent or something.

Why should they give away their Nets Pick for nearly nothing?

Brook gave a pathetic effort tonight. Getting dunked on repeatedly by Powell, only 2 rebounds and 0 blocks in 25 minutes.

Is it possible to keep brook? Do you guys oppose to this? Not for the sam amount as his current contract, though. Thoughts?

Dear Mitch,

I would give him the MLE and a wink, wink deal for the following season. No more than that. Sometimes he's really good, shooting 3's and blocking shots. Sometimes he just looks like a dinosaur waiting for extinction.

There are some players that you tell to keep shooting when the shots don't fall. Brook isn't one of them.

Hibbert thinks he can beat him in a race.
Looks like he moves in slow motion these days - the opposite of what today's players are.
