If Kuz can improve his D to average, he will be the Lakers starter at PF for the foreseeable future.

We have 3 GREAT bench players right now: Hart, Nance and Kuzma.

Nothing makes me giggle more than proclaiming players bench fodder after watching them for half a season while simultaneously insulting posters who make claims guys aren't starters after watching them for 4 seasons. Seems a bit hypocritical doesn't it?

As slumpy as Kuzma has been, he's still leading the team in three point percentage along with Josh Hart. They are both playing great considering its their rookie season and considering their tiny salaries. Now kcp, Lopez, Deng... Those guys i have a problem with.

Barely shot the ball today but make some good things out there. Teams are gearing up to stop him now so he must adjust.

Outside of the Celtics game and maybe one or two others, he's honestly been a pretty bad player overall in 2018 so far. Hit the wall hard, and hasn't gotten past it yet. The ASB can't come soon enough...

He’s been scouted and he’s hitting the rookie wall. Just needs to adjust and keep working.

Yeah, the amusing thing is that he has to keep proclaiming it after every game so we don't forget.

Kuzma has already shown plenty as a rookie to prove his potential. He just needs to keep working hard.

He will be alright. No worries at all. He is going to be a star in this league.

So.. who is our starting PF for the future if Kuz turns it around and plays up to his potential. Considering how much of a beast Randle is? (and he doesn't get traded)

Randle = Draymond type role
Kuz = Iggy type role?

Maybe? (Not in play style necessarily ofc)

Mmm.. so Kuz plays 3/2 rather than 4/3.. Who would you prefer as a starter at the 4?

Whether we like it or not one of Nance, Kuzma,or Randle will get screwed next season if we keep them all

Kuz can play some SF, but Luke refuses to play him there. Randle can play a big chunk at C. But if you throw a guy like Brook Lopez in there, then yeah one of those four will get screwed.

It's all good if we're winning though.

Nance will need to bulk up in order to handle more minutes at C. Kuz can play a bit at SF off the bench, too. And of course Randle needs to continue developing his shot. They all have things they need to work on, but there IS a scenario where we could keep them all and get them their minutes.

Kuz is still more 4/3 to me, Randle probably 5/4. I guess Nance 5/4.
Who starts at the 4 should probably depend on who the center is. I think Julius is the better player right now (though Kuz can make a jump next year) but Kuz's ability to shoot makes him an easier fit for most 5s (and for Lonzo?).

Not necessarily if Randle starts as a small ball 5 and Nance splits time between there and forward.

In this scenario, Kuz would spend his time in forward positions. Something similar to this w/o including free agents:

JR/Nance/Bryant
Kuz/Nance
Ingram/Kuz/Brewer
Hart/JC
Lonzo/?(JC?)

Zu seems like he’s on the way out.

It feels like he has lost confidence and Luke hasn't been willing to stay with him.

I also don't think it helps him to play with Brewer and Nance, which we have seen happen more and more recently.

I would like to see him get more court time with Randle and Ingram.

@tox Agreed.. I think Iggy is more of a 3/2 which is why I figured that's what you thought of Kuz.. but yea he's a 3/4. Agree with your post.

@Goat Our perimeter defense would need to be elite level in my opinion. I love Randle's defense on smalls when switched.. but he's not a paint protector. So I wouldn't rule him out as a starting center, but we'd really need solid perimeter D.
