cis is the prefix for people who identify with the gender they were assigned with at birth.

Is this discussion limited to trans as in transgender, or does it extend to transracial also?

I can't honestly say I wouldn't feel a little perturbed if my child told me they were transracial.

Does that make me a racist?!

It was a legitimate question. There is a small, but growing transracial movement afoot.

i would be furious, made, pissed off, wanting to break something, but i would still love my kid! the initial reaction would (bleep) with me, im not going to lie, but i would have a serious talk with the kid and ask every possible question i could and go from there.

Basically, the majority of people, right?
I still have a hard time wrapping my head around this sometimes. I want to be empathetic, FoB... but I'm assuming when you say "gender you were 'assigned' with" it's considering the PHYSICAL aspect. Identifying as something else... is it more an emotional or mental thing? I'm not being sarcastic.

My thought is, when I was born... the doctor saw a wang... and it was pretty unanimous I was a boy.

Why should someone feel like a failure as a parent for something that is as much under their control as the color of their kid's eyes?

I've seen it, and it is very good. The fact that the protagonist is trans is ancillary to the main plot, which is grieving the loss of a loved one.

You wouldn't be the reason. Some may be disappointed, to think they failed would be because they don't understand and are uninformed. This link may give you some clarity. LINK

If your child is a gang banger you'd be a failure.
