I think Nance was redundant and is a 7th/8th man on a contending tram who was receiving starter type treatment because we are not a contending team and we incorrectly pegged him as yet another guy to develop, despite that he is beyond that. He already is who he will be. The problem though is that who he is, is much more valuable to a team like Cleveland as the type of player we should hope to have if we are ever contending like they are.

On this team, however, he served as Luke's security blanket and, as a result, impeded the necessary steps we needed to grow the core of this team to some degree. He was too good not to play but, in reality, cost those player we really needed to develop, like Randle and Kuz, the minutes that they needed to actually develop. In other words, he came to us too soon. This situation was not good for him nor was it good for us with him. He was the most obvious casualty of everyone on this team IMO.

One of the really good guys in the league. Lebron is going to love him, and I'll be rooting for him in the playoffs.

The more I think about Larry being gone the more it really hurts. I just have to keep telling myself that he would have been in the same situation as Randle next season. Cavs got a good one.

I'm sorry to see Nance leave.

That one kinda hurts. Got attached to that dude and was looking forward to him repping us in the dunk contest.

He and JC will get a nice welcome when the Cavs visit on Mar. 11th.

I.T. lucky we already visited Cleveland.

It would be awesome if Nance wore a Lakers jersey for his first dunk in the dunk contest. With Lonzo giving an assist. Just to rile up the Staples crowd. Then he could just change into a Cavs jersey for the rest of the way (jumping over Larry Nance Sr. or something).

Get ready for some paintball Cavs. I'm gonna miss Nance so much. I always knew he'd end up back home. Maybe he and Hailey can find there way back here someday.

Nance along with DLO were my two favorite Lakers the last few seasons. Will I make a big stink and curse out Magic? Nope. I wish them all the best. Lakers Nation Forever...

It's been a hell of a ride, just read the difference between the first and last pages in this thread. Larry was the one constant positive on the team in these dark ages. Despite the knuckleheads around him, Larry always played and acted like he respected the game.

I still can't fully process this trade, you're trying to build a no nonsense, Defence first culture yet you trade the player that most embodies that? Feels like Larry was in part a victim of Magic and Pelinka's attempts to purge everyone from the old regime.

The fact that Larry was reluctant to shoot open jumpers, and with the emergence of Randle and Kuz, he was eventually toast anyways. Larry can't play smallball 5 either. But personality wise, he was the best Laker of all.

I got that vibe too, but I don't think that's it, because they apparently didn't trade Randle for a 2nd like they could have. Clearly they are considering bringing him back.

I think Larry was just the necessary victim of dumping Clarkson, plus we got a pick back. Really sucks as he was one of my favorites.

Funny he got bashed a lot for getting drafted at #27 and then the old Kobe tweet. But ended up being the nicest guy on the team and well loved by the fans.

Loved Nance.

I'm more bummed out about him moving, but wish him success in a deep playoff run.

I'll be watching Cavs 🏀

Magic mentioned the guys they drafted this season and Ingram. Then said JR is playing the best he has ever seen him play and he is delighted with that. Basically said he wants JR to continue doing that. So there's a good chance that we keep him if we could.

Larry's a class-act and great teammate. Gonna miss him being on the Lakers.

In his honor:
KD don't want this:

Larry Nance will wear #24 in Cleveland.
He did not want to un-retire his dad's #22.

Yea I'm with you on all that. He's a young player, but like a veteran would - playing him too many minutes stifled some development..
Easiest guy to let go, yup.
