I get it. Lakers were trying to ice him into a buyout. But why would he do such a stupid thing?
There's a 99.9% chance he will be stretched or traded, which means he keeps 100% of his nearly 36m owed.
Our forward rotation is currently:
BI/Brewer
Jules/Kuz
I would let Brewer join a playoff team via waiver, and slide in Deng. He offers better 2 way play than Brewer. And if Any of BI/Jules/Kuz get hurt, we are really thin at the forward spot. Why not reacquaint him? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I think it could be a positive. Showcasing him now could benefit us in the summer in a possible trade. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Nobody is taking the corpse of Deng unless it comes with two draft picks |

I don't think he's done at all. But his contract is too much for any team to bear. Teams would happily pay, and play, Deng, maybe the minimum, but up to the MLE. He was a solid, mobile stretch PF, and a class-act professional, until the Lakers decided not to play him. |

I kind of agree. I would try to play him a little bit. Late first quarter or early second. Midway through the third period. 8-12 minutes a game.
Surely, for his sake and our sake, he can contribute a little something and we can shed him this summer. I would trade the 2018 Cleveland pick and our 2nd this year and next. Even if we got a 5-8 million dollar bust back for 2 years, we could stretch that player or they would be easier to buy out.
There were lots of bad 2016 deals. Unfortunately, we signed 2 of the 3 worst deals that year (Noah deal is just a tad worse than Deng). |

Not really. He's been resting all season and probably is fresher than most. What's the harm in playing him?
Don't think of him as a 17-18m player. If you're asking me Brewer or Deng? It's not even close to me. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

He’s completely done as a Small Forward. Maybe he can still play as a 4. |

I'd just slot him for minutes at both forward spots. Have guys who can switch. BI is going to play the lion's share of minutes, and we may see some 3 guard lineups, but having a combo forward like Deng is a good luxury. Just don't think of it as a 17m one. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Can't get caught up with the past.
Don't see him as a starting player, or the guy who is making 17-18m/year.
See him in comparison with other options like Brewer. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I'm super surprised this is coming from you. Brewer has much more energy and tries to play D. Deng is done. I was fortunate to go to a practice early this year in El Segundo. Who practiced with the most energy? Brewer.
Deng is so done it's not funny. He's been asked to not be part of the team for Gods sake. He's way older than his years. Did you hear Magic's response when asked if there were any deals involving Deng. His response, "I wish...are you offering something?"
Thanks to the incompetence of Mitch and Jim...Deng cannot be moved and can only be stretched. |

the situation has changed.
we likely have enough draft picks to trade him.
2018 and 20120 1st round picks should be adequate.
possible buyers: cavs in a lebron trade, bulls, atlanta
if he can play 4 with decent 3p %, makes him less bad.
with nance gone, we have randle and kuz for pf.
lets hope for winning some blowouts and he can show he can play stretch-4 |

I think it's not a great look for the Lakers. Yes, he's overpaid, but there's really no reason to not play him. When we had Jules/Kuz/Nance at PF, yes, I could understand. But Nance is gone. BI/Kuz have had a few games where they were out injured. Wouldn't mind seeing what Deng has left. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I think he's on the bench to stay. The current FO has no incentive to let him show that he can play. The current narrative is that he's an anchor that the old regime left behind. |

Forget his salary. He is toast. His passport is fraudulent. We are not tanking so there is no reason to play him. |

I think him somehow showing he is worth his contract to other dreams is never going to happen but I do think its possible that he can contribute some decent yet limited minutes for us plus he can just simply be a good guy to have around our younger players and help show them whatever he knows.
So why not get what you can out of him instead of paying him crazy money to just sit at home? _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

I still remember him playing in the first game. He looked completely lost on the court and his defense was horrid. |

Has he even been practicing with the team? It's tough enough integrating two new players into the team, now there's a third? Still, I agree with playing him for a few minutes. If anything, he can play either forward position depending on the matchups. Might as well show the league what he can still do. Could he have been sent to the G League all this time just to stay in game shape?

What's the point, at this point? Continue to ice him in to a buyout.
Plus, Brewer has been pretty good as an energy guy off the bench and for some reason, I don't really want Deng around the kids anymore. |
