Im fine with keeping Deng glued to the bench...nothing I hate more than seeing scrubs brick shots, I get irrationally frustrated when I watch Brewer throw up nonsense.

He shoot better than Brewer, longer can post and hit 3's and smart. It would not hurt to play him. If u think he is old what do you think of Frye almost 35 yr old .

If u still like Brewer, you can play Deng at the 5 depends on the game and who of the two Frye or Deng is playing well.

Zu is just out of place with this offense and Bryant is just too inexperience.

I get it. Lakers were trying to ice him into a buyout. But why would he do such a stupid thing?

There's a 99.9% chance he will be stretched or traded, which means he keeps 100% of his nearly 36m owed.

Our forward rotation is currently:

BI/Brewer
Jules/Kuz

I would let Brewer join a playoff team via waiver, and slide in Deng. He offers better 2 way play than Brewer. And if Any of BI/Jules/Kuz get hurt, we are really thin at the forward spot. Why not reacquaint him?

Yin we're aren't trying to ice him into a buyout or he wouldn't be traveling with the team...we're protecting hm from injury which would make him even more untradeable...if that's even possible.

F'ing Jimbo...it really is amazing what Magic and Rob have done in 1 year compared to that trust fund f up.

Not really. He's been resting all season and probably is fresher than most. What's the harm in playing him?

Don't think of him as a 17-18m player. If you're asking me Brewer or Deng? It's not even close to me.

Y, I so totally agree with this!

He has had a year and half of rest to make up for those Thibs years. How can he not be fresh and ready to play 10 minutes a game? Deng > Brewer IMO.

It's b/c whenever he walks into the discussion, folks mostly see the 17-18m salary, and the vestiges of Jim/Mitch's fateful 2016 mistake.

But Magic/Pelinka have all but cleaned it up. Let the players play.

I can care less about his salary. He resurrected his career switching from SF to PF position 2 years ago. That is a long time ago. He was given a chance last year and looked horrendous, out of shape, and very slow. I would venture to guess it is only going to be worse for him. His style does not fit with what we are trying to do. We are not tanking, and that negates the only reason to play him. He would not help us with wins, would hurt development of kids, and can not be showcased.

Neither is the case with Brewer and his 12mpg.

Brewer is what he is. He is SF who is a hustle guy, plays solid D, and is capable of playing a solid game once in a while. We also do not have to worry about him breaking a hip. Deng can no longer play SF and there will be no minutes available for him at PF. I am not hating on him (its water under the bridge), but there is no reason to ever put him in a game again.

Deng actually wants to play.... if you want to force him into a buy-out the best thing to do is let him rot on the bench

You forgot about Frye. No way is he getting minutes over the shooting of Frye.

BI has been banged up and is getting back to rhythm now. We used to have 3 PFs but now 2, and Kuz has been banged up a bit too. Not exactly destroying the roster by re-inserting Deng to soak up Brewer's minutes.

No Deng. No Deal.

His contract cost us enough young talent (that we probably couldn't afford to resign). Let him give up and except a buy out in 2019. Not his fault, but this is a waiting game.

Or play him and hope for a medical retirement?
A non-painful one of course... 😁

He's the perfect type of player to throw at the Draymonds, Randles, and Lebrons of the world.

Unfortunately the team has been jammed at the PF position since last season and with the rise of Kuzma there was no way you give up a chance to develop a young player with potential. Maybe if we didn't acquire Frye he'd get some playing time, but I just don't see it at this point. I honestly don't know what Mitch was thinking giving him 4 years at 18 WITHOUT some sort of team option.

I think it comes down to who Luke wants to use more Brewer or Deng. Since Deng can really only play PF, he would backup Randle, Chandler.

With Brewer gone, Kuzma would have to play more backup SF, and that negates some of his advantages.

I can't see playing Deng at center with Lopez there, Randle the small ball center, and Zubac and Bryant picking up the scraps.

Deng's best chance of getting some time is if we decide to cut Chandler loose and keep Brewer. Then Deng could be the backup PF. Of if either Chandler or Randle gets injured, then I could see Deng getting the call.

I see no harm in mixing him into practice scrimmages. We focus on defensive hustle and rebounding. Then the fast break. If he can run, let’s see it in practice first.

Talk about a group of vets on a last chance mission. If they can adapt to the team play style, it could be a pretty interesting season.

It's too late for Deng. It took him about 3 months to get in shape and have a decent game last season, while he had actually been playing.

Not sure what people think he is capable of contributing now.

I'd rather stay with Brewer and Frye.

I am probably in the minority, but Brewer doesn't really bother me that much. At times, I even like having him out there. At least he's capable of playing at the speed we want to play at.

Deng looks so out of place with this team. He just can't keep up with the guys on either end. Not sure if it's conditioning or age. Brewer at least knows what he is. As a fan, it's a reassuring feeling when I know what to expect from a player.

We need to dust him off.

Playing with Lonzo I think we can restore 5% of his trade value.

But at SG, we are down to KCP/Lonzo; SF is just BI, and PF is Jules/Kuz.

Deng would allow us to get some depth at SF/PF. If Kuz plays "SF" then you can bring Deng as a PF, etc.
