I loved that play last night where he just bumped Jerami Grant out of the way and dunked on him. Grant did that to KCP three times earlier in the game and Julius gave him some payback. Afterward, Grant looked at the ref for a bailout call.

About time we punched someone back in the mouth.

Julius is playing the best ball he ever has for us, but at the end of the day he's an undersized 5 who can't protect the rim. To play him at the 4 you'd need to have an unicorn at the 5.

Did you know Jeremy Lin will make $12.5 million next season? It's absurd to think Randle isn't worth more than that.

It's all about the market. It's the exact same reason why everyone got overpaid in the Mozgov/Deng contract years. None of those players were worth their contracts, but the money was available, so they all got overpaid. This year, there just isn't a ton of money to go around, so guys will be underpaid.

Right I get that. But even under these circumstances for someone to say $12m and not a penny more is silly

Looking into the Randle situation.
As long as we sign our 2max players B4 randle signs an offer we will be fine to resign him. If we don't have the 2max then things get a little tricky since we have 3 days to match the deal or we lose him.
1 option is If we extend Deng and it's within that range of the offer to randle then we can still sign the 2 max
2nd option is trading Deng which gives us more breathing room but we can still get outbidded to the point that we can't resign him if we want the 2max

Teams with cap space?
1. Bulls around $40m. They have Zach to resign and Portis is very similar to randle.
2. Dallas around $30m. They've been targeting him so we know they want him. Question is how much are they willing to spend. They have Powell who's devolping and looking nice. Plays around the basket too. Their needs rn is a Gaurd and big man. They will be getting a top pick in the draft so here's to hoping it's a big man.
3. Hawks around $30m. They have John Collins but they need another big man to pair with him. They do have Miles Plumlee and will have 1 of the top picks in the draft as well so let's hope for the best.
4. 76ers around $30m. They have Ben, Embiid, & Dario so really no need for Randle
5. Kings around $25m. They have young pieces in Giles & Skal plus WCS is a similar player in that he likes to play around the basket. So I'm not sure that they would want him.
6. Suns around $22m. They have Bender who is developing. Seemed like they wanted to trade Chris tho. If so there going to need another big man for the future. They also have Payton, Booker, Jackson so they don't need to spend starter money for one of those positions. I can this team trying to take him away especially since they are in the same division.
7. Rockets around $20m. They have Capela who plays around the basket. Plus they need to resign him and CP3 so I'm not sure they would want to spend cap on him.

If we trade Deng we should be fine from here even if teams offer all there cap space. That's at least if I have our cap space numbers correct.
For me I'm worried about 3 teams as of this moment but things could change at the end of the season for better or worse. Maybe worse if Randle keeps balling.

Exactly. Cuban MAX is the worst scenario and it has been covered. I think he eventually will get 17-18.

1. they don't have a 25m max to offer
2. they don't have 18m IIRC either after trading for McDermott.

I think it'll be more in the 13-15m range when it's all said and done.

That is a fantastic news!!
How much do they have exactly?

Mavs free agents
S.Curry
Y.Ferrell
McDermott
Mejri

Other then S.Curry idk if they really would think twice about losing any of these players.

Powell is playing really well tho and they are paying him 10m or so for Next 3 yrs so they might not need Randle...here's to hoping

Dang. Mejiri and Kleber giving Jules fits. They’re like “give us that money instead of Jules.”

In the last 7 games Randle has played 30 or more minutes (33 average in those 7 games): 23.6PPG/11.6RPG/4.6APG/ on 67 for 109 FG's about 61%...

Julius taking responsibility for lack of communication on defense.

You just cant leave Randle in for as long stretches as Walton does. When Randle gets tired, he plays dumb. Its not necessarily the overall minutes but the length of time he stays in.

somebody brought a great point. They got McD whose cap hold is around 10m and their top 3 pick which is around 6/7m

so how much cap does Dallas really have?

I brought that up. They can renounce him but why? To pay jules 20m a year? Doubtful.

Randle's last 10 games: 19.4 points (54.6% fg), 9.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists in 30 minutes

Are people seriously arguing he isn't worth $10M a year? Seriously?

In fairness, the Lakers are only on a 57-58 win pace over those games, so it’s not like it is translating to wins.

Randle has gotten better at finishing and does some really nice things in transition, on defensive switches and as a rebounder. He's only 23 and does a lot of things at a very high level. LA should try to resign him at the right price-point. But there's a reason teams were only offering second round picks for him in trade (like Payton) despite his lottery pedigree and restricted rights in a tight free agent market.

He can defend all five positions on a switch but he doesn't rotate intelligently. He too frequently puts his head down and forces things leading to turnovers or broken possessions. He doesn't space the floor and because of his poor rotations combined with a wing-level length/reach he's not a reliable rim protector. On the whole he's a plus contributor but he's a tough piece to fit and he has a huge ego to boot.

Dallas is generally pretty smart in making roster decisions. Their roster startes with Barns and Smith. Is Randle the next logical piece for them? Because he's from Dallas? That matters when you need to convince guys to take your money. This market is going to be brutal.

Cuban went for DeAndre before. Jordan will definitely be on the market this summer having turned down the Clipper extension. Word is he wants Houston but the math is tricky and that could also open up the opportunity to make a run at Capela who is a better fit in Dallas than Jules. If Dallas is playing the restricted free agent game I could also see them looking at Aaron Gordon before Randle too. Word is you can test Orlando's intentions on him. Marcus Smart, Rodney Hood, Avery Bradley, Derrick Favors, Tyreke Evans, Jusuf Nurkic, Will Barton, their own Seth Curry. There are a lot of guys out there Dallas could be ready to throw their money at. The idea Jules is getting a big offer from Cuban is misplaced imo.
