Or if Portland goes into another late season collapse |

Blazers are 6 less losses ahead of us
Only 1 game left
Clipper are 6 less
Only play them once in the last game of the season
Nuggets are 5 less
We still play nuggets twice
Pelicans are in 9th spot and look to be crashing.
They have 5 less losses and we have two more games vs them
Jazz are in 10th and have 3 less losses
We have 2 games left vs them
Wouldn't it be something to be playing clippers for the 8th spot in the last game of the season?? |

Pelicans are Imploding now all we need is one of Denver/OKC/Portland/Clippers/Utah to fall apart at some point for us to sneak in |

i think our chances are very slim since a million things have to happen but a record of 37-45 may drop our pick between 12-15, this should be our goal |

i understand the need for new orleans, utah, denver to sneak into the playoffs but i dont understand what the ...clippers do, they should be full tanking right now and they keep fighting and winning, after all they ve done , they ll have a ton of middle to low picks |

Orlando, Dallas.. this team just keeps teasing. When you're this many games behind, you can't lose to teams behind you in the stanings.
But overall, they are improving, but it's 2 steps forward 1 step back, when they got to be doing 4 steps forward, 1 step back for a legit chance. You can't drop games like this. |

Utah is the hottest team in the nba and winning their games by a wide margin, they will make the playoffs with a better record than the Lakers. Pelicans are dead men walking, they have a tough last 15 games of the season and should go no better than 5 and 10 during that stretch. Clippers and Thunder schedule is neutral so they should maintain around .500 record.
So that really only leaves Denver and Portland's spots for the Jazz and the Lakers.
Portland upcoming schedule:
2/11 Vs Jazz
2/14 Vs Warriors
2/23 @ Jazz
2/24 @ Suns
2/27 Vs Kings
3/1 Vs Timberwolves
3/3 Vs Thunder
3/5 @ Lakers
3/6 Vs Knicks
3/9 Vs Warriors
3/12 Vs Heat
3/15 Vs Cavaliers
3/17 Vs Pistons
3/18 @ Clippers
3/20 Vs Rockets
3/23 Vs Celtics
3/25 @ Thunder
Denver upcoming games:
2/13 Vs Spurs
2/15 @ Bucks
2/23 Vs Spurs
2/25 Vs Rockets
2/27 Vs Clippers
3/2 @ Grizzlies
3/3 @ Cavaliers
3/6 @ Mavericks
3/7 Vs Cavalier
3/9 Vs Lakers
3/11 Vs Kings
3/13 @ Lakers
Denver and Portland should come out of this with a losing record and as long as the Lakers can do their part and continue winning on at least a .666 clip including winning both vs Denver and the one vs Portland, they should be close to catching them before April. |

We're gonna lose a few games integrating IT. One of the risks of making a trade is potentially sabotaging the 8th seed. Maybe it wouldn't have mattered |

Yeah, 8th seed is a bonus. I would love to have these guys taste the pressure of playoff, going up against the champs in San Fransisco and really ‘dig’ deep (the coaches too)... but not making the playoff is still progress if we continue the way we’ve played the past month |

Shoot for the 8th seed but 35+ should be attainable. They put themselves on position now where .500 the rest of the way gets it done.
Next season, there will be no excuses...must make the playoffs. |

Yes, even if they get swept, it will give them playoff experience. |

This roster in 2019 could be an 8th seed. _________________ Darvin |

Man I really feel Magic not being satisfied with being in 11th place and desperately hoping for a chance at the 8th seed. Its been a tough couple years. We need to get back to the promise land...no more of this loser mentality hoping to squeak in the playoffs crap. |

We won't do anything with IT this year and he pretty much crapped on next year because we won't sign any elite talent next year since we gave the Cavs a huge boost with JC and Nance which means LeBronze is all set. We had one thing going for us and that was a very solid core of young players who in the last few weeks have beaten some very good teams and done that without Ball. Instead of looking at that we decided to take two of those promising players and dump them for a draft pick (Cause we need more young players to go with our other young players...) and two guys who are going to be HOPEFULLY ejected from our roster ASAP.
The problem is that we won't sign anyone so Magic will be forced to sign IT and Frye to contracts eating up one of those ELITE players we were going to bring in and that is going to be the end of any hope for a quick resolution to our ongoing problem. WE are going to be screwed in so many ways if we don't use some of that cap but if we don't have quality players to bring in at decent market value prices we will use it on broken down vets and gd IT and Frye. And everyone who stood up and said this was a great deal will finally see how screwed up it was in the beginning.
We just became the Divac era Lakers... |

This team can't even beat tanking Orlando and Dallas. No hope they'll even sniff the 9th seed. _________________ If Brandon Knight were to come out, I would take him number 1 in the draft. - Magic Johnson Mar 27, 2011
For all of you out there questioning Jimmer Fredette of BYU, he is the real deal. - Magic Johnson Mar 20, 2011 |

I can agree with that.
The tight grouping of Utah, Clippers, New Orleans, Denver, Portland and OKC should make things interesting for the rest of the season. |
