It looks like the plan is for IT to join the starting five. This likely means we will see a Lonzo/IT starting back court when Lonzo comes back which will likely be after all star break. Let's discuss...

Quote:
Isaiah Thomas will come off the bench when he makes his Los Angeles Lakers debut ‪Saturday night against the Dallas Mavericks, league sources told ESPN.

Lakers coach Luke Walton and Thomas had dinner together in Dallas on Friday and discussed expectations and roles.

With the young Lakers playing their best ball of the season -- they have won eight of their past 10 contests and 12 of their past 16 -- Walton's intention is to integrate Thomas slowly into the offense, and the point guard is in agreement with that, sources tell ESPN.

The plan is for Thomas to eventually work himself into position to join the starting five, according to sources.

I'd support it for as long as the defense doesn't fall apart. Not a huge KCP fan on offense but he holds his own on defense.

I'd prefer Hart to either KCP or IT right now.

But if IT can show he's a go-to scorer that keeps others involved and we keep winning games, then Ball/IT it is.

Undecided.

I.T. way better than Lonzo with the ball in the halfcourt but I really can't see him filling out a wing when we fastbreak.

He's needs to get over this whole starting thing. I personally prefer to have the best 5 players on the floor but I value defense over offense.

Doesn't feel like it's a thing Walton would do. IT fits a lot better with the 2nd unit in my opinion.

Nope. Don't want to see it. This won't happen but I want Ball/Hart.

Now close your eyes and imagine a world that has KCP/IT coming off the bench. Then imagine next season and them being replaced by PG/LBJ. Sweet world huh?

Or let IT start with KCP.
And let Lonzo run with Hart/Kuz/Frye in the 2nd unit.
Naw that's not happening. Haha

IT hasn't shown anything this year that indicates he should be a starter. Maybe that will change as his body heals. I just wish he would fall into the Clarkson role. (with more minutes granted if he is playing well).

I'm interested to see how Luke handles a guard rotation with 4 guys he feels deserve legitimate minutes. I'm hoping Hart isn't the odd guy out.

There's so few games left, I don't think it will matter too much. I'm hoping for the best with IT and Frye, but my gut tells me neither will be around next year. I'm wondering how Lonzo is going to fit in compared to the BI/Hart combo that has been working so well.

This is the best scorer we have had since Kobe. I am excited.

As long as IT buys into our defensive schemes I think we will be pleasantly rewarded.

We have Lonzo, Hart and Casey p. If Isaiah starts at any point i will think it's psychology and not because he deserves it.

Play the guys most that will be here next season with the exception of favors for players and agents.

Both Lonzo and IT are working themselves back from injuries. Team is play surprisingly well right now. It will be a long process to eventually get both Lonzo and IT in the starting lineup.

If I had to handicap this, I would say not until the last 10 games of the season.

Still think IT is better off on the second unit.
