Let's say IT gets completely over his hip injury and went back to Boston IT, would you rather have him or Lebron? |

Probably some people who have blind hate for LeBron. I don't even llike him myself, but it would be stupid not to welcome him if he wants to play for us. He's declining at such a slow rate that he will be a top 5/top 10 player for at least 3 more years. The guy is a machine... Unlike Kobe, who always pushed his body to the limit, as I see it, LeBron is smarter in the way he treats his body (and he probably has better genetics too)... |

Someone is really asking this question.....hahahahahahhaha
Lebron compared to IT who cannot defend Bryan Shaw at the moment...I am not speaking about prime Shaw.
Really hard decision.... |

Very skeptical about going all in for an aging LaBron. Might be better to consider signing IT to a smaller shorter contract if we can get him on the cheap. Sign PG 13 to A Max and maybe wait till next summer to add another superstar ala Thompson, Kawhi, etc ...We also need a defensive big for those teams that don’t play small. iT may be agreeable o this in hopes of getting a bigger contract next year, has something to prove.
We have a very nice core of young ones, would hate to stunt that growth. May have the likes of the Warriors in the making. We should be looking for longevity not playoffs for a year or two.
We don’t have to have it all now...patience is a Virtue. |
Signing LeBron is absolutely not a problem, the only thing is for Magic and Pelinka to let him know that we won't destroy the team and trade all of our young guns to but vets who are only good at shooting from distance. If not than I'm sure Magic won't sign him. But I'm also confident Lebron may like what he sees in Lonzo, BI and Kuz. I mean, what young and promising players did LeBron asked to be traded in Miami and Cleveland ? Wiggins ? It was the right move, the guy is seriously overated...
Oh and by the way the Payton/Malone signing was great, it was a shame Malone was injured or we'd have destroyed the Pistons (well maybe not destroyed but we were trashing teams before his injury). And you can't compare Nash to LeBron James, they are just not on the same level... |
“you can't compare Nash to LeBron James, they are just not on the same level...”
Neither is their payday...
Don’t get me wrong I like Labron, Just not at Max $$$ for 5 years. Might “hamstring” us for a few years in the future. Pun intended. _________________ Go DODGERS !!!! |

Both were there though ...LeBron mentally on strike and IT who
has never ever been a defender. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

This topic almost makes me ashamed to be a Lakers fan. A 5'7" midget on a potentially career end bad hip who is a selfish, me first knockoff AI or arguably the best player in NBA history and one man title contender at the tail end of his prime. Heck his short term contract demands are a blessing because we can jump ship when the talent declines and his petty antics aren't worth it anymore (should it happen). |

I would rather max Mozgov and Deng again than seeing Lebron as a Laker.
I also hope he wins a chip this year so he'll stay away from us. |

If we don't get two Max guys, IMO we'll offer IT a huge 1 year deal. Pelinka will sell it as an opportunity to gain exposure while he's finally healthy.
Plan A: LeBron, PG, Randle, Lopez
Plan B: PG, Randle, IT, Lopez |

I'm leery on LBJ. He's too prima donna and act like he's the one. If IT and the Lakers have a great chemistry for the rest of the season with over .600, then the Lakers should consider it. |

No concerns about how his hip injury will play out as he ages?
Or that he may want to start and is being a good trooper now b/c he has no choice?
I like IT for the rest of this year. But to decline LBJ over IT just laughable. 30/30 GMs likely agree and should be fired if they disagree. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Sheesh. Let some other team invest their money in a midget point guard who's fun to watch. IT is playing for a contract, but hopefully not with the Lakers. |

Depends. In most cases, Lebron. But, what if IT was willing to sign for $7M per year? Or some other amount that would be considered a significant discount? I’d have to factor that in.
Outside of age, another factor which has me less excited about LBJ is that we have young players at his position(s).
IT could fill a needed role as 6th man. Just doubt he’d consider that. |

Which GM would seriously say "no thanks" to LBJ b/c IT agreed to a 7m/year deal?
And as you said, I doubt he would be happy with a bench role long term. Given the hip injury (which some have said is degenerative), his size (which under 5'10 guards have aged well approaching 30s?), and his likely desire to start (and the defensive woes that would produce), why would you pass on arguably the best player in the NBA right now? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I like to see young homegrown players to play together for years to come.
PG Ball - 20 years old
SG Hart - 22 years old
SF Ingram - 20 years old
PF/C Randle - 23 years old
C Zubac - 20 years old
SF/PF Kuzma - 22 years old
C/PF Bryant - 20 years old
We basically have everyone in each position. I don't think we need Paul George or LBJ. |
