Great article.
What about a scenario where they only get PG, and resign IT and keep Julius. Would they have enough to get kawhi or klay next summer? |

We might have to let go of Randle and go for a lower cost center with the MLE who can rebound and finish around the basket. I have guys like Ed Davis and Kevon Looney (only 21 years old) in mind.
If Lebron takes slightly less than the max, lets say $32mill/year, we can go after a very capable back-up PG. Have any of you paid attention to Fred Vanvleet on the Toronto Raptors? I would throw $8m per year at him with what is remaining of the cap, assuming PG13 also signs for $30m.
Basically, Lebron ($32) + PG13 ($30m) +Vanvleet ($8m) = Our Cap space ($70m)
I will then use the vet min to go after a 3 & D SF like say, James Ennis or a buy-out candidate (Demarre Carolle).
2018/2019 Roster:
C - Ed Davis/Zubac/T Bryant
F - Lebron/Kuzma/Frye
F - Ingram/1st Rd pick/Vet min (James Ennis)
G - PG13/J Hart/2nd Rd pick
G - L Ball/Fred Vanvleet/Carusso
I think this team is better than Houston and can give GS a run for its money.
A small ball lineup of Kuzma/Lebron/Ingram/PG13/Ball vs Green/Durant/Iggy/Klay/Curry could go down to the wire. |

Lakers get to keep Kuzma. After acquiring James and George, I dont see Ingram as a great fit next to them. At least Leonard is a guy that is an established knock down three point shooter and an all world defender. Plus, isnt Ingram going to be a free agent soon? That 7.4 million per year for 5 years on Deng's contract is going to hurt. |

Only Shaquille can be a super team and not make free throws.

Ingram is a RFA in 2020. Also you have to pry Leonard out of the Spurs cold, dead heads. |

We are not getting anyone next year that will make it worth picking up IT and Frye and more importantly losing JC and Nance. I honestly have to ask people why LeBronze would leave the Cavs now when that team just got vastly better without IT. They improved by subtraction.
We are going to have a ton of Cap and we are not going to have anyone worth picking up so we will end up signing a long list of broken down vets who should have retired years ago to one year contracts and hope that following year will be better but the problem is that there is still no guarentee that the Lakers will be signing anyone in the following year as well. Seems to me we will have a huge empty hole where a team should be and the bandaid will look stupid when we finally figure out that we cannot bring players in if we don't have something resembling a playoff bound team to being with.
I honestly think next year with the current roster in place and enough cap for one max player would be better than this risky two max player dream people keep inventing.
If we resign IT we blow up the team for however many years that contract is set for. IT will do nothing but drive people away and unravel the few good player we have left. |

great article emplay,
if PG tells OKC he's leaving, how possible will it be to trade Deng + Cavs 1st for PG in a sign & trade situation? Wouldn't OKC rather get a 1st like when Toronto/Cleveland did when Miami put together the Big 3?
IF that happens, will that allow us to keep Randle AND have enough Cap for next summer? |

I see so they rather just let him walk than to get a 1st, in order to cut salaries. I guess that's undertandable. |

Deng is not worth a first - because Deng's salary probably costs, with tax - $75+ mil _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

I would rather lose without Lebron than win with him.
He's not a Laker.
By the time he gets here he will be in his Steve Nash phase. |

Lebron is probably going to play about 3 more seasons, barring injury. I'd take that if he decides to come here. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

Better nail that 2 Max plan...you don’t trade young assets and good NBA role players for this recent BS.
If they don’t, the clock should start ticking for Magic/Pelinka regime. |

Don't worry, they will find a way to use that cap on one year deals with players that will not only keep the bench warm but will gratify the guys who think we are getting Lebronze or PG13 or any other player. And when those deals fall through, we will turn in 2-3 bad years because the team will never work well together and we will have to endure more losing seasons and get more draft picks that will replace the guys who leave the team when they see how little loyalty this team has for its players. _________________ This Laker Organization has not yet hit bottom. It is moving there quickly, and I suspect this year we will see zero talent coming to the Lakers and we will trade away Kuz and BI for old vets in the hopes of giving LeBronze some scapegoats. |
