Who do we have now to function as the defensive captain on the floor? Reading the defense, keeping others in line with regards to rotations, icing, funneling, help defense, and most of all communicating? |

I believe Luke, just put the wrong line up to close the ball game.
If IT is there as a closer. We needed to have brook for protection. Kuz was not good enough def to be there to close.
My closing lineup would have been.
BI, IT, Hart, Randle n Brook
If IT is out then Kuz could close |

Agreed 100%.
We won the last several games with Lopez and Randle on the floor at the end of the game. Randle goes with players out on the perimeter and Lopez stays down low to protect the rim. Randle is NOT a rim protector.
Last 8 points for the Mav's were layups, dunks, or free throws by people who were fouled in the paint by IT because there was no shot blocker in the paint to back him up.
There is an old story about a coach who kept running the same play over and over again and when someone asked him if he was going to change to a different play he replied "Sure as soon as they stop this one." If something is working, as a coach you stick with it until it does not work any more.
This crap of playing Randle 37 minutes is stupid. Randle is at his best when he is energized. 37 minutes will sap his energy in the 4th quarter. We need Frye out there to spread the floor guys like Thomas, Brewer, Kuzma and Hart to slash to the basket, not Randle to clog up the lane. _________________ Darvin Ham is an idiot! |

IT, KCP, and Kuz together is a very weak defensive lineup. If you're going to have IT in there, you need Hart, Ingram, Randle, and Lopez. |

Horrible game defensively. Can't say I'm surprised with Thomas' on that end.
At least he came out hot on offense.
Luke will have to work his defense around IT. Gotta have our best defenders when he's on the court. |

80% free throw shooting would be real good. 100% is way too much to expect as baseline performance from any team.
The game should have been about 3 points closer if the Lakers could have matched Dallas' ft percentage, or if they'd shot FT's at the same percentage as the best free throw shooting teams do on an average night.
Dallas scoring 115 points instead of 130 would have made an even bigger difference in the outcome. Our defensive efficiency took a huge dive this game.
Shutting down Dallas by playing lockdown defense when we had them by a point in the final 3 minutes would have made the biggest difference of all. We've won several games that way and it's a good way to consistently win games. |
