I don't know about Lonzo, but the following are outdoing Ingram and Kuz so far: Simmons, KAT, Tatum, Mitchell, Porzingis, Booker, Brown, Murray, Turner, Sabonis, Portis, and Anunoby for starters. |

Simmons, KAT, Porzi are the only ones you can say definitely are and arguably Tatum but he's pretty one dimensional imo. The rest I would disagree with are outperforming BI. |

No way to tell not enough of a sample size in games played. This claim is as dumb as Colin Coward saying IT won't work on the team. He played one game. _________________ "Bobbin' and weavin' and let the good get even" |

Is that a controversial statement? It's kind of self-evident.
Did they say no one on the Lakers will ever be a superstar? |

Anyone thinking Kuzma is our best player is just flat out wrong, but have you paid attention to what Towns is doing this year? KAT at 22 is playing as well as Duncan at 22 - not nearly as good defensively, but much better offensively. |
That's what made Tim Duncan, Tim Duncan. An offense only Tim Duncan is an all-star, but just another player forgotten over time. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

I think BI and Kuz are going to be our main stars... that's why the trade that brought Kuzma in LA was big. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. No doubt KAT and Porzingis are killing it, but they are also each 3rd year players. Simmons is less impressive than one might think. Also, keep in mind that both Ingram and Ball are 20 years old. I don't think Tatum will be in the same tier as Ball/Ingram when all is said and done, but included him below regardless.
2017-2018 Per 36 Min. Numbers:
KA. Towns (Age 22): 22.1 PPG (64.7 TS%), 12.0 RPG, 2.4 APG, 0.7 SPG, 1.5 BPG
K. Porzing (Age 22): 25.2 PPG (53.9 TS%), 10.1 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.2 SPG, 3.7 BPG
Simmons (Age 21): 16.9 PPG (54.2 TS%), 7.9 RPG, 7.5 APG, 1.9 SPG, 1.0 BPG
Ingram (Age 20): 17.0 PPG (52.9 TS%), 5.6 RPG, 3.9 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.7 BPG
Ball (Age 20): 10.8 PPG (43.6 TS%), 7.6 RPG, 7.5 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.9 NPG
Tatum (Age 19): 15.8 PPG (59.3 TS%), 6.0 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.9 BPG
Ironically, the only thing separating Ball and Simmons really (other than their height and positions) is shooting %. If Ball shot as well as Simmons, they'd be scoring at about the same level PPG. Give Ingram and Ball each another year or two, then lets see where they are at. The talking heads forget how young our guys are.
Oh, and here's Randle and Kuzma for good measure -
Kuzma (Age 22): 18.9 PPG (54.5 TS%), 7.2 RPG, 2.2 APG, 0.7 SPG, 0.5 BPG
Randle (Age 23): 21.4 PPG (60.0 TS%), 10.9 RPG, 3.3 APG, 0.7 SPG, 0.9 BPG _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

What is a superstar?
Everyone has different definitions.
To me, at present there are three superstars in the league:
Greek Freak
Durant
LeBron
So in that analysis, about 10% of the teams have a superstar. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

I almost put Westbrook in and made it four.
The others I would rank as stars, but Superstar? Not so sure about that. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Fantastic talent and has the skills/body/talent to get to the superstar level which is saying something.
But is he is superstar right now? Not by my definition which I admit is a picky one. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

I think there are 7 superstars currently in the NBA - LeBron, Westbrook, Harden, Steph, Durant, Giannis and Leonard.
Here are the 22 to 25 year old guys who could still make the leap - Porzingis, KAT, Anthony Davis, and Embiid.
Here are the under 22 guys who, IMO, have the potential to become superstars, but it will remain to be seen: Dennis Smith, Ball, Ingram, Tatum, Mitchell, Fultz, and Simmons.
Honorable Mentions: Booker, Wiggins, Russell, Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray, Nokic and Fox.

Part of being a superstar is staying healthy, which separated guys like Kobe and Kidd from guys like G Hill and tmac.
Porzingis is done for the year so thats an incomplete grade, Lonzo we'll have to wait and see if he can finish the year but BI so far has been injury free. |

Sir Charles admitted on the radio today that he hasn’t watched an NBA game in 3 weeks because he is focused on the NCAA tournament. |
that is really what you took from this post? |
I read the title and that’s it; I also watched part of that laughable segment.
I guess that conversation is still better than you wanting to attach Lonzo to Deng just to get an old CP3 back. Are you so much of a Lonzo hater that you want to re-create the old and stale Cleveland Cavaliers team that just got blown up?
Ingram/Deng for torn achilles Cousins is also, in the words of Barkley, turrible. |
your response is ignorant....I have never said I wanted to do any of the (bleep) you listed.....am so over this "i do not like what you said, so I will deflect and try to defame you with some other (bleep)"...so weak |
Ignorant? Nah, here is what you said on page 1007 of the FA thread
adkindo wrote: | some get mad when I say it....but will not be shocked "if" Lebron & PG-13 come to the Lakers.....either Ball is used to move the Deng contract to sign Chris Paul....or Ingram is used to move the Deng contract to sign Cousins.....or one or both of them are used to move the Deng contract in a trade for a Superstar like Anthony Davis. |
It’s cool...you do you. Just practice what you preach and don’t get personal man. |
He never said he wanted any of that to happen. It was just his guess that, that may be what would happen. |

Porzingis is a unicorn but I wouldn't put him at superstar. Too many weaknesses.
Poor rebounder.
Poor defender other than rim protection.
Doesn't create for others.
Injury prone. |

The 2017 draft was pretty amazing if you think about it. |
Let me summarize the OP: At any give time, no more than 33% of the teams in the league have one superstar. Yet we have a strong chance that 5 of our players will become superstars, a feat that has never been achieved in NBA history.
And that doesn't even include Thomas Bryant putting up Embiid-like numbers as the 7th man.
In other news, the OP just bought 7 tickets for tomorrow's lottery, and he believes there is a very good chance 5 of them will win the grand prize. |

I took a little time to kick the tires on your assessment. I couldn't find anything to disagree with. Oladipo is 25, but I don't think his peak is much higher than what he is doing right now. I think he had his leap, and it didn't get him to the superstar level. Cousins had a great year before his injury, but I wouldn't call him a superstar. John Wall never quite got there. Chris Paul is having a good year, but I wouldn't call him a superstar at this stage of his career.
So that's a pretty solid list in my opinion. |

And he would be right. Btw Magic said the same thing yesterday. I'd even say it's highly unlikely that any of our players turn out to be superstars. |

The way I'd put it: there are a few guys in their second or third year who are clearly it: Towns, Porzingis, and Embiid. These guys are stars who you can build a team around.
Our young guys are part of a group of maybe 18-24 players where it's not exactly clear how they stack up against each other or how they are going to turn out. Some of them will be stars; some will be solid starters; some will probably wash out. But it's anyone's guess at this point who will fall into which category. |
