Might as well have Deng earn part of his money.
He is the highest paid player for what he produces.
A million dollars a game?

But would not waste a first round player to get rid of Deng.

Just stretch if no takers.

Of course, Walton could call on Luol Deng to be available on the bench and promise the veteran forward minutes. Deng played in Miami from 2014-16, so Thursday could even feel like a bit of a throwback game.

Sadly, calling of Deng wouldn't make sense at this stage. With two years left on his contract after the 2017-18 season, the team has made it clear that Deng has no future playing with the team. The 32-year-old may technically be available to play, traveling with the team, practicing and even cashing a paycheck from the Lakers, but playing Deng for any amount of minutes would ultimatley give minutes to a player that is not part of the future of the team and, thus, take away minutes from a player that could develop with that time on the floor.

So what!!?? If that was the case than you wouldnt play IT, KCP, BROOK, Etc.

This makes no sense. There has to be more to this.

Also no one is asking Deng to play minutes in place of any prospects. It's literally a last resort because we don't want to play BI 45 mpg.

What’s next for Luol Deng and the Lakers?

The trade deadline came and went and Luol Deng is still on the team. Now what?

Is Deng activated, is he expected to play with all the injuries lately?

Deng probably thinks there are 18 million reasons he is a better option than Wear.

Honestly how many of us would give up 36 M contract when you are on your last leg and would be lucky to get even get vet minimum from another team? That's a lot of money. Deng is done and won't be giving up massive amount of money to just play few minutes on another team. We just gave a terrible contract. I bet Lou/IT wish they got Moz/Deng kind of contract for once in their life and the former two will probably make twice as much doing nothing.

Well sure, but he's already a millionaire. If he wanted to play as badly as he says in the media, then there's a way to do that. Get a buyout. And otherwise he shouldn't say he wants to play so badly.

That's all I meant.

You know there's no way you'd walk away from 36m in guaranteed money.

I don't understand why he is not playing with all of our injuries. He looks like he can play.

Lol we need to play him badly. We need to extract any kind of value at this point. Even Ennis is getting some burn and I just don’t see him being part of this team in the future.

Something personal must be going on here. There's literally no logical explanation for not playing him 10-12mpg at the "SF" spot (though that's not his ideal position).

Maybe so, but come on Ennis is getting minutes, a G league call up is getting minutes! Deng was an all star and we are paying him lots of cash. Strange situation indeed.

Intangibles. You can't teach that. That twinkle in his eye just doesn't show in the stat sheet.

Unless you think he isn't washed up and untradeable, for what reason? Wear's shooting ability is far more useful than anything he's capable of.
