Really liked the podcast with Larry Coon. You guys went straight to the point: it's not that the players are making more money, just a handful of them fortunate to be FAs in 2016 are (Deng, Moz, Biyombo, Mahinmi, Crabbe, Parsons, Noah, Solomon Hill, Bazemore,...).

BTW, totally agree with Larry, worse than the money was the length of MozDeng contracts and with no team options. If we read the first 5 pages of Deng's thread we'll see the big criticism was exactly about that.

But, it's not just the teams thinking "I have money, so I'll spend it". The CBA forces them to, as the team must spend 90% of the cap. Better spend it on a contract, than simply distributing bonus to players already under contract.

Also, the Supermax contracts, I believe are poison pills. Teams will be able to pay more money and retain their franchise players but will lose the ability to build a decent roster around him, That's happening in OKC and I think that's the reason the Clippers (West?) got rid of Blake.

^Blake is also a fake max player. If you are all about marketing sure, but he has never struck me as a championship team type player. Detroit fell for it...

Interesting insights into the Clippers' future in LA, the Inglewood/Forum dust-up with MSG, and the possibility Ballmer may resurrect the Seattle Supersonics, which I think would be good for BB even if his net worth takes a modest (for him) hit.

As for the Lakers - good to hear a team by team rundown of where we're likely to end up now that the last stretch of the season has arrived. Sure wish we were healthy, I'd feel a lot better about the possibility of 40 wins. As is, I agree we should be able to eke out 6 more wins, and if the Lakers play reasonably well another 9 maybe 10. Here's hoping Ingram's healing fast!

One step at a time. Tonight becomes a must win vs the Orlando Magic.

If OKC and Denver lose (both have a tough schedule) and the Clippers free fall that last game against the Clippers can end up being big

So it will be a game to prevent the Clippers from going to the playoff dance? Even if unlikely that last game against the Clippers can be a chance to sneak in on the 8th spot.

40 wins and knocking the clippers out in the process would be the next best thing (right below making the playoffs) for this season.

Clippers have to survive the next dozen and a half games. I'll enjoy watching if the Lakers could play spoiler that last game, but I suspect the Clips will be ready for sun, beer, and fishing before we reach the tip off. We'll see.

Even if the Lakers don’t get to 500(probably won’t), but end up with something like 35-37 wins, they can still try to sell free agents on whatever our record ends up being when both Zo and Ingram played, which will probably be a few games over.

No way they win more then six or seven games. I hate the Clippers like Trump.
