1972 US Olympic Basketball Team wishes those refs called a jump ball in a similar situation.

Yeah, I'd be livid if something like that happened to us.

Puzzling call, but their first play had zero chance of working, so it evened out.

If that happened in a playoff or finals game, it would be the worst call in the history of sports and those refs would be fired on the spot.

Hell, those refs could be dead on the spot too by a few crazy fans.

Come on man, the clock was at 0.6... the game was over ...it doesn’t matter.

Fish says hi.

No but if the clock hadn't started prematurely the first time, game would've been over anyway. Still a frustrating way to lose, though.

A terrible rule. We didn't deserve to win in that fashion.

0.4

And you’re right, clock was at 0.6 so why did the buzzer sound?

I would certainly have been bothered by it were the shoe on the other foot.

On the other hand, if the clock hadn't malfunctioned Lonzo ends up with the ball and the game is over, unless you jive with the idea that Gordon stopped. It look like he played through to me though. Also, Orlando probably prefers the L for their draft playoffs.

Same thing happened in wizards @ clippers earlier this season. I think the refs ended up putting less time back on the clock.

It has to be among the worst... not because of its impact on the outcome. At the end of the day, even if Orlando had another shot, their chances were slim.

But, to have time to look at replay and see what we all saw, and to have time to think about it... and then to come up with a jump ball... its just mystifying.

Fisher shot happened 10+ years ago... that won’t happen in a scenario like that for probably a few dozen decades.

So they should just blow games dead at what mark? 0.6?

The ending of the raptors game had both teams try similar plays with .04 seconds left. They both overthrew the ball and out of bounce. The clock didn't start as it wasn't touched..and there was no jump ball.

This was a crap call. Pure garbage

It has been five years since the league's biggest draw has made the playoffs. The math works out for calls like this. Just make the most of it.

The call was (bleep), but I'll take the win. What really bothers me though is the chokejob at the end of the game. This (bleep) better not start becoming a pattern. Hope Luke and the staff ream them for their poor play at the end.

Watch, this call is gonna have huge ramifications in the playoffs/finals.

Game 7 Cavs vs Warriors: Warriors up by 2 with 2 seconds left, Cavs inbound the ball. Cavs player throws the ball and the clock starts prematurely and refs take a review and know they started it early.

But due to what just happened tonight, they now do a jump ball with a 1 second left in the game and it’s now over the moment the ball is tipped in the air.

Luke saying refs told him league officials in NJ made the jump ball call.
