That sounds better!

So cool seeing that long list of teams behind us compared to the last few years when there were only one or two.

It's CRAZY how close that Cleveland pick can move up a few spots.

New Orleans, Cleveland, Indiana, San Antonio, Washington, and Oklahoma City ALL have 37 wins. It's not likely.. but imagine if Cleveland loses a few games in a row? Imagine if 4 or 5 of those teams wins their games?

I hate Magic and Pelinka lol. I was very much satisfied not looking at the standings, looking at tankathon or looking at draft prospects this year. Then.. they trade for Clevelands pick which is currently sitting at 24.

In the late first round.. they've been absolute GOLD. I'm excited.

Isn't our Cavs pick more than likely getting packaged with Deng?

Idk. The Lakers have done *really* well with late first round picks.

If i'm not mistaken the Lakers put themselves in a position to not be reliant on shedding Luol Deng to get some max players.

Rumor has it theyre eyeing 2019 as well. I like the idea of getting Paul George this year and then being in a position to nab somebody else in 2019. The league is always changing.. I'm pretty sure NOBODY in the NBA saw the Clippers trading Blake Griffin this season. Who knows what might be available next season. Always having that flexibility in cap space is never a bad thing.

As ruthless as it sounds (but that doesn't seem to be their style) they could just continue this game of chicken until Luol Deng blinks.

Unfortunately no, since they are in the playoffs.

We can only pass Western Conf teams now, unless there is some really strange changes in the standings.

Oh right.

This is about as low as we can expect the pick to convey, realistically. Utah and Denver are 6 wins ahead of us in the rankings so unless we have an incredible end to the season we aren't catching them. I'd be very happy giving the 76ers a #11 or #12 pick, its hilarious considering it could have been at best a #4 pick for what was it? three consecutive drafts?

#4 picks since the pick could've conveyed:

2015 - Kristaps Porzingis
2016 - Dragan Bender
2017 - Josh Jackson

I haven't got a clue what is gonna happen with the CLE pick, never seen the race this tight. they lose 2 or 3 games and the right teams win all of a sudden we have #18 or #19.

Can't tell you how sweet it'd be to convey #12 and pick #18. 76ers have SIX picks in this draft, 4 in the 2nd round. Outside of utilizing them in a trade (and how much value do 2nds have anyway) I fail to see what they're going to do with that many selections unless they draft and stash like 4 players.

Look at it this way.

In a league where the Top 16 teams make it into the playoffs.
We're the 18th.

Compared to last year when we were the 27th.

by the way, about the Cavs pick... Cavs-Clippers friday, 538 put Clippers -5 with 69% chance of beating the Cavs

If somehow we lost 'our' #12th pick and got Cavs' #18th... wow

No matter which way you look at it, the Lakers are improving as a team even when we are short-handed. Good to see.

We've been so lucky. We could have been so screwed after mortgaging our future away by trading all those FFRs for Nash and Dwight with nothing to show for it and rebuilding from scratch. Last year really sucked but it saved us one of those FFRs and we got a player whose brought a new identity to this team in the post-Mamba era.

Sixers will probably be selling or trading some of those draft rights. They've got enough young players already. Hopefully, they won't do something dumb like the Bulls did last year by selling draft rights to Jordan Bell to the freakin' Warriors for cash.

No. We are 18th. We passed Detroit last night.

Lakers 29-35
Pistons 29-36

That's cool. If we can't make the playoffs, it would be cool to finish as the best non-playoff team. We're getting there.

Looking ahead, Utah's immediate schedule is pathetically easy (5 of next 7 are against vehement tankers, and the other 2 are against a possibly-Davis-less Pels and sucky Pistons team). It's not out of the question they have another 11-game win streak in them (they're at 4 now). They could be 42-30 before they play the Warriors on March 25th.

I'd say once a team reaches the 40-win mark, they're out of reach for our Lakers (I think L.A. realistically gets 36-39 wins).

"Our only hope" is the Nuggets & their seemingly fragile psyche fall apart and the Clippers magic wears off. To be the 13th or 14th Lottery Seed would've been unheard of this time last year. Now stop blowing double-digit leads at home in the last 3 minutes of games.

I would be confident if the lakers were at full strength but due to the injuries, we are over extending some guys and so I think it’s going to be tough to beat a desperate team at altitude.

We really miss BI’s presence on the court and Hart as the main glue type guy with Nance gone.

Oh I know. But math is funny. This is when 30-12 is not equal to 18. It's 19.

You need me to break it down? Ok...

16 playoff teams. 1st through 16th best teams right there. 17th and 18th are Denver and Utah. Guess who's the 19th?

*glass breaking sound

*Denver fans stand and turn their heads to the entrance tunnel

IT'S LUOL!! IT'S LUOL!!

*Deng comes out and dropkicks Jamal Murray, Gary Harris and Jokic

This isn't the Denver game thread, but I'm Legit worried about some stress-injuries with LA... like I wouldn't be too mad if this was an all g-leaguers game and they sat Kuz, Ball, and JR. Give Thomas 40 shots and let Tbryant & Zu start & finish. Give them your best shot when they come to LA next week.
