IT haters were always ridiculous.

I'll admit he isn't the same IT as the one who dropped 53 in a playoff game last season, but he's still a positive player for our team. That mentality you cannot teach, he and Kuz ? they're the guys we look to when the game needs a closer

Late in the game and IT provides:

A reliable freethrow shooter
An attacking guard
A guard with big moment experience
A guard that can penetrate and create for himself or others

He and Kuzma saved the Lakers tonight.

He's officially close to what he was. Almost 90%
Elevation is back on his jumper , and some finishing elevation (looked good even though he missed the two hand layup). Some burst.
Might outperform his contract next year

He needs to get the confidence back when he's finishing around the rim, but in the absence of that I think he's actually become a better facilitator

Would be completely open to signing him to a 3yr/$32m deal declining each year with a PO in year 3.

I think the Lakers primary plan remains George/Lebron and if they do that, then no way IT comes back. If they strike out in free agency or if they only land George though I'd guess they try to bring back IT/KCP/Lopez on one year deals, and then once they are in place they sign Randle. So while I don't think IT is a top priority for him, I could see him back depending on how free agency pans out and how much he commands. I don't think he's going to command a big contract due to the hip concerns and his age (little guards seem to drop off earlier than most as they rely on quickness).

Sorry to all the Lebron narratives, but IT isn't playing like he wants to be a half a season rental. Neither is Julius. They are playing with pride, like this is their team. They both could be out the door and they owe Zo absolutely nothing, but they are standing up for their teammate. Stuff like this goes a long way with the fans and with the organization.

He's deadly in that spark plug off the bench role ala Lou/Crawford.

He was actually a good facilitator in Sacramento, when he was more of a conventional PG, before he knew he could get 25+ a night.
His body is still going to improve a bit from here. He's gunna be good next year. If he, Paul George, Lopez are our vets next year --- we're going to make the 2nd round

How close is he to blowing by defenses and being too quick for the refs to call carrying violations on him? That was a huge part of his game last season.

I think he's still more like 80%. He's not that quick in space... Jokic made him look fast, but Jokic on D tends to do that with those he's defending. He's still getting most of his opportunities off screens/p&r and he's still struggling finishing or creating separation at the rim. We're doing our best to put him in good positions (something Cleveland never tried really), but he's still not close to who he was last year. Is he progressing and making good strides though? Definitely.

The main difference imo is still his inability to finish close to the rim. He still doesn’t have that explosion. He’s getting close, but not there yet.

That late miss was still an impressive jump, even though he missed the bunny

Either way, it's so nice to have an MVP caliber player on the team once again.

THIS!

Before that around the 1 minute mark when Murray was on the free throw line, IT3 started clapping in his face.

Give IT a big one year deal, then upgrade with Klay or Kawhi in 2019.
