A lot would need to happen for the Lakers to escape the slot they're in right now. Their draft pick will end up being somewhere between 10-12, which makes it very unlikely that Boston will be getting the pick. So at least there's that. |

On New Year's Day, they had a very real chance at Deandre Ayton with our pick. We have come a long way. |

We gained a game on Golden State tonight! Heck yeah! Making our Cavs draft pick better is only gravy. |

The playoffs are a long shot but I would be incredibly satisfied with a 41-41 finish. |

They need a Miracle type run at this point. If, and it’s a huge if, they can somehow find a way to win these next two games vs Denver and Golden State the dream will be alive. They close out with 9 of 16 games against Western Conference playoff teams. I think they need to win all of those games. |

And the crazy thing is that it no longer feel impossible to close out the year on a tear, even against playoff teams |

30-36 doesn't look that bad for a team of Rookies and only two vets |

Would need to lose probably only 1 more game the rest of the way but win both vs utah for sure to have any realistic shot. Toughest games will be the next two without Ingram, if they can somehow win both, they have a punchers chance if everyone balls out from now through the end of the season. Still need 3 teams to collapse, It looks like San Antonio and Clippers will but i'ts getting harder and harder to see a 3rd team losing a lot in their last 16, especially Utah; even if the Lakers beat them twice.. Was hoping Minnesota but even they beat the Warriors without Curry and Iguadala. Hopefully they will still be out next game vs the lakers.

Some new hope for the 8th spot, a lot of Warriors players are out, so if we win today and tomorrow that should give us some renewed hope no? |

Chick used to say when a team was in a dire situation, "They got two chances to win this game, slim and none. And slim just left the building."
If we win tonight and tomorrow, we keep slim in the building for awhile. |

Although the dream is dead, it felt good to hurt Denver's chances. |

20-9 since Jan 7th....
I believe a 12-3 finish to get us to 43-39 would give us that "outside shot"....
That would be a 32-12 record in the last 44 games...
Probably out of the realm of possibility, but then again... |

Surely can’t hurt our chance...but man we are also the walking wounded right now. Can’t get BI back fast enough. |

A good compromise would be to remove the conference designation for the 8 seeds. Adds one more deserving team without compromising the format too much. |

This team is a lot like the 2010 OKC team that started slow but ended with 50 wins. From January 1 to the end of the season, they went 38-17 (0.691). Since January 1, we've gone 20-11 (0.645). If we keep up that rate, we'll go 10-5 the rest of the way (or 30/16 since January 1), with a final 41-41 record.
But for that 9 game losing streak and Luke's stupid decision to keep Randle on the bench for the first half of the season, you gotta wonder where we could have gone this year. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

Maybe that was his way pushing Randle towards greater things, while pushing his name out of trade conversations? Randle played good before the break, but this Randle is an All-Star. Teams would have been asking for him instead of Clarkson or Nance. I know there are some holes in my logic but it's what I'd like to believe. |

^I have little doubt Randle would have been this Randle regardless of when he started. He played great in the preseason, and then all of a sudden he was on the bench. Maybe that came from the FO, but I also have little doubt that it cost us some wins. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service
