Luke is a diamond in the rough. He is growing leaps and bounds and I think we are LUCKY to have him. I could not stand Luke the player (especially after he was a no show after his big contract). Luke the coach has respect throughout the league from players and coaches alike (all you have to do is watch his encounters). He has improved our D, attitude, rotations, and atmosphere surrounding the team. He has been masterful adapting to changes (injuries and personnel). I really believe that many underestimate the fact that players want to play for him (which will help this off season). Look at the shiittzz we previously had and you can appreciate Luke even more. How about rumored coaches (Ollie and him getting Durant here). In Luke we Trust.

The Lopez-Zubac lineup was really bad and not because of the 2 7 footers but because he had Tyler Ennis in there instead of KCP.

Not sure if I’d put ice cold IT in for the last shot

Also should’ve taken a TO instead of wasting time. There was no advantage at the end there to have Kuz get the ball up.

thought luke left IT in for way too long in the second half. he wasn't doing anything out there. and i would rather they have had lopez for the last play for a possible tip in.

way too many turnovers tonight.

Not taking a timeout and letting IT back in the game.

I will reserve my judgement about Luke's job security until we have a few stars.

You know IT was going to get it and force a shot.

Just when I was warming up to you Luke, you coach like an imbecile again.

Not calling a timeout and wasting 8 seconds in the final possession only to finally use it.

Then bringing in a terrible IT for Lopez...and of course, drawing up a play for him. Because we know he’s never gonna pass the ball, and we know you can’t draw up plays for (bleep).

Luke coached like a Virginia team tonight.

IT was sitting the whole time and brought in the final 6 seconds and got the inbounds.

Luke has never drawn a single good play to win a game. Before it was lou who'd chuck up a brick, now it's Thomas.

the play was not drawn up for IT. go and re-watch it. they had randle defended. IT was the outlet guy so we wouldn't get a 5 second count called on us.

And before Thomas, it was KCP, who would brick everything in the clutch too.

Luke is literally the Anti-Dantoni in drawing up plays. He is just clueless.

If the play was not for IT then we could have called a timeout to draw up another play... oh wait we were out of timeouts. Luke wasting timeouts hurts us yet again.

This mediocre coach won't get it done. If we get superstars in here, we need a better coach.

Because you brought in IT you dummy. Of course it’s not gonna be available when you bring in a chucker instead of Lopez possibly setting a screen.

(bleep) clueless.

think this is a learning game for luke. off a miss, you can rebound and push. on a make, take the timeout and regroup.

Nope. Just IT being garbage as usual. Which Luke allowed.

Fish had a good point, this team could have locked up the doors and shut the window but they are still fighting. A lot of credit should go to the coaching staff.

I knew coming in this thread there would be critique of Luke...

I like that he gave Kuzma a chance to bring it up and get into a play. He saw they were slow and indecisive and he called a TO. Thomas still got a good look.

Tough game but great learning and teaching moment for all involved. Including Luke.

Agree, Kuzma froze so we had to call the time out

I would've liked the no timeout call better if they had had a player on the floor who's good enough at getting his own shot (i.e. BI or Isaiah). Miami is a good defensive team, so it might be smarter to just push in that situation instead of calling a timeout and allowing their defense to set up. But the players looked lost about what they should run. That's usually where the guy who can get his own shot comes in.

I think a big part of this is also about knowing your team. You can definitely tell that Luke has been gaining a great deal of confidence in the group. But at the same time, I'm not sure if they're at the point yet where they can push the ball in that situation and run something on their own. Might've been a different dynamic if BI was playing, though.

I almost rather they just played out the final possession instead of calling a timeout. One of Luke’s biggest weaknesses has long been out of bounds plays. Somehow it seems what he wanted to happen rarely does and then we struggle just getting the ball in at all at times.
