Quote:
In the aftermath of left knee surgery, All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics will miss the rest of the regular season and playoffs, the team announced.

Irving will undergo another procedure on Saturday to remove two screws from his patella that were inserted in 2015 to repair a fracture he suffered in that year's NBA Finals. The team said a bacterial infection was discovered at the site of the screws when Irving had his most recent surgery, on March 24, to remove tension wire in the knee and that Saturday's procedure will ensure no infection remains in the knee. The wire had been placed in his knee during the same surgery in which the screws were inserted in 2015.

Also reports that Marcus Smart is unlikely to return this year as well.
What a cluster this season turned out to be. Got what, maybe 50-55 games total out of their two big off season acquisitions? They may not even make it out of the first round.

Does this mean the Toronto Raptors will make the finals? Or will it be yet another cakewalk for LeBron?

Probably the latter, even though this Cavs team is probably the most vulnerable in years.

Not cake walk but 8 straight Finals looks much more likely now.

Only Toronto stands in his way. 76ers too young and Embiid is hurt too.

Could some random team like the Heat give them trouble? Doubtful.

Toronto hasn't exactly made anyone quake in the playoffs.

Toronto always wilts in the playoffs in big series. Lowry loses any semblance of a shot and DeRozan gets shut down. But I’m rooting for them to shock the world.

It's easy to see why Toronto is terrible in the playoffs. They're a team built for the regular season. DeRozan's not going to beat you with the long ball. He's not nearly gifted enough a scorer to make magic happen when team defenses start to up their game in the postseason. Lowry's not going to make smart plays as a facilitator. No one else on their roster can step up offensively to take command. They have a decent defensive team but suffer if they go up against an elite offensive individual talent (specifically SF because DeRozan gets raped).

Cakewalk. Barring injury, the Raptors will be facing LeBronze and Co. just as they get warmed up together after an injury-filled season.

Lebron only wilts when the other team has a better collection of overall talent. Spurs, Celtics (KG, Pierce, Rondo, Allen, etc not the current version), and Warriors had that. Raptors on the other hand don't really scare anybody. In the playoffs its all about the matchup between players and honestly, Lebron is bigger and built like a tank compared to everyone else on either team.

Another cakewalk for LeBron.

The NBA won't let us have a LeBron Free finals. Although as a Pacers fan I would actually watch.

The last time that happened was when the Lakers won it all.

Why do you post here if you are a Pacers fan?...

Cavs will get destroyed by either Golden State or Houston.

Can it be 2018/2019 already?

This Toronto team is not the same as years past. They will wash the Cavs in 5 games max.

The Cavs can beat any Eastern team right now, but the real choices for LBJ are: do you want to get swept in the Finals? Or do you want some other Eastern team to get swept in the Finals?

I wonder if the amount of injuries are increasing or decreasing over the years in the NBA??

I would love to see some stats on injuries.

It seems like there have been a lot more injuries to key personal the past couple years but I know I can't verify that.

It would be a very interesting study to look at the injuries vs the change in rules.
