Good. It builds character. He needs to build that toughness and go through a real transformation in the form of a Steven Adams.

Zubac had some great dunks today and a solid performance all around. Some young mistakes, but he did well today.

parker, kwame, Chris mihm on and on.

he is far from clumsier

i'll respectfully disagree. kwame had no hands, he couldn't handle the ball at all, but he was actually a solid low post defender and had control of his body.

parker was not clumsy, he was actually fairly athletic, but a number of issues with him that i won't get to.

mihm would be the closest, but he was still more coordinated than Zu.

Zu does not seem to have any body control.

Eh....maybe. I’ll reserve my judgement on draft day. If our pick comes and a guy like say.....Mitchell Robinson is still on board?

Zubac still has a long way to go, a real long way. And if we find somebody in the combine/workouts that have better physical measurements, more skills in needed areas, etc. Zubac would probably be shown the door. Along with being the sacrificial limb of free agency.

But this is a good game from him. I’m happy Luke gave him the playing time.

Zubac is further along than a lot of 21 year old centers aside from 'special' ones.

Center takes the longest time to develop in the NBA unless you're "special".

Zubac's progressing fine.

Ehh...I respectfully disagree with that. I’d say Centers are the opposite. Point Guards in this day and age, especially one and done PGs, take the longest. With bigmen in general, you pretty much know what you’re going to get from them after a couple of years. Point guards could take up to 4-5 years to finally come into their own.

The transition to the NBA tends to be slow for Centers. Zu showed some poise at the end of the game. Admittedly, I didn't see the whole game but I certainly saw crunch time, against a Spurs team in the midst of a battle for playoff spots, and Zu held his own out there when it mattered.

Missed 2 shots, made 4? 6 rebounds and 6 assists? Only 1 turnover? Got a block? +13 when he was on the floor? Seems like an odd time to be down on Zu. I've gotta be missing something here.

He had more touch last year, but I'm glad to see him regaining some of it recently, if still not all the way back. May be a mental thing. However, I think the larger issue for him is that he's getting used to playing in a different body. Last year, people would bounce off of him a bit more because of his size. Unfortunately, that made him less light of foot defensively. Now, more rebounds he goes after are contested and he has more trouble getting space to get off his shots.

The next step for Zubac is to keep getting in better cardiovascular shape, while, at the same time, increasing his strength. He can be both quick and strong, but might take one more offseason to get there. After that, its about taking his skill sets and figuring out how to use them with his new body - which has been his greatest struggle this year, IMO, and will continue to be a struggle until he gets his body where it needs to be and has enough practice with it once it is there. Unfortunately, if he does get there, that may not be with this team.

Still, proud of the guy for bouncing back after a stretch of really horrendous games.

I just don't like the fact that every time he gets the ball outside the basket, he is always looking to pass. I wish for once that he would just fake the pass and drive to score. He had this natural ability to score his first year and I think he's lost all of his touch.

Zubac has had a bunch of solid games late in the season. He sat on the bench a lot which has hurt his development. He is still a baby and will be better than anyone we get in the draft.

Heck it is likely the Lopez will not return and if we sign FA we will need inexpensive centers. Zubac and Bryant may get those jobs next year.

Zubac has lost a lot of his confidence. Which is to be expected if you don't play and are not a pure selfish chucker. It is coming back to him. Slowly, but certainly.
Give the kid some time. He is only 20. So many here were saying the same negative things about Adrew Bynum when he was 20...

I liked seeing Zubac make all those passes to open shooters - 6 assists! He also set some good screens to free up Kuzma and KCP especially.

For $1.5 million a year you are not going to get a lot better than a young center, grew up loving the Lakers, will play hard, doesn't sulk, and has decent talent.

Best low-cost backup center we have had since DJ "Congo Cash"

Yeah, I'm like "How many players do you recall in total?" 'Cause Zubac is not a clumsy big man.

Man talk about a slap in the face . Mbenga was garbage. I used to hate how every time he checked into the game he'd immediately get dunked on and demoralize the whole team while at the same time energizing opposing players and crowds.

Somebody mentioned Mihm. I don't really remember him being clumsy. I actually really liked him . I remember he had something like 8 blocks in his first preseason game and I started thinking we didn't even need Shaq lol. Mihm was incredibly foul prone though and inconsistent largely because he had a hard time staying on the floor due to previously mentioned foul proneness.

Zubac actually has soft touches around the rim. He does look like the pudgy (although much slimmer this season) player but somehow gets blocks and dunks
