Quote:
The development league’s career leader in 3-pointers, Ingram could finally make his NBA debut this week, 11 years after his professional career began.
The Lakers plan to sign the career minor leaguer to a contract for the final two games of the regular season, sources told the Southern California News Group.

I'm probably a sucker and its most likely a glorified PR exercise for the lakers, but it feels so good to see Andre be so happy even if it's just for 2 games. Also nba money for even 2 games is nothing to sneeze at.

ETA: 10 years in the D/G League is a long time. I wonder why he didn't go overseas to europe or china. The money would have been a lot better

FYI:
Andre Ingram is the NBA G League's career leader in three-point field goals, with 713 triples made & the fifth leading scorer in league history (3,901).
AI also won the D-League 3-Point Contest in 2010 and 2016.

AI is PURPLE RAIN!

classy move by the Lakers to give this guy a taste of the NBA.
I'm somewhat surprised he never made it to a NBA roster until now after consistently being a dead on 3 point shooter for so long.

South Bay Lakers, a wrecker in 2017-18

Quote:
In the 2017-18 season, the Lakers reaped the fruits of their investment in the minor leagues like never before.

Having the South Bay Lakers play and train at their headquarters - the brand new UCLA Health Training Center - and doing it under the structure designed by Luke Walton has allowed the senior club to make use of some of its players throughout the season, particularly when the injuries became a systemic problem from March onwards.

* Big Pay Raises Coming For G League Players

Quote:
The N.B.A. is instituting a long-anticipated salary increase in its developmental league, the league announced Tuesday.

Effective next season, players signed to G League contracts will earn $35,000 — or $7,000 per month — in addition to housing and insurance benefits over the course of the league’s five-month regular season.

* Raises Coming For G League Players
Quote:
G League players will be receiving a significant salary increase next season, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

All G League contracts for 2018/19 will pay $35K [$7K for each of the league’s five months], along with housing costs and insurance benefits. The league had been paying $26K or $19K, depending on players’ classifications. All G League salaries are covered by the NBA.

Good news. That should help strengthen the G-League and keep players here, rather than go overseas. It should only go up as the league gets stronger, and attracts more fans and franchises invest more in their minor league club. As we saw this year with South Bay, they were truly a minor league system for the Big Club: TB, Zu, Caruso, Wear, GPII, A. Ingram, think Hart even played a few games. Found Nwaba like an RKO outta nowhere last year.

Trio of South Bay Lakers invited to the Ninth Annual NBA G League Elite Mini Camp Tips Off May 14-15

Quote:
The NBA G League’s ninth-annual Elite Mini Camp will tip off on May 14. The event held in Chicago’s Quest Multisport gym is a two-day scouting event featuring some of the NBA G League’s top prospects. About 40 players are scheduled to attend.

Before the NBA Draft’s top prospects meet later in the week, the NBA G League’s camp offers standouts from this past season another chance to showcase their talents in front of NBA team personnel, before NBA Summer League and 2018 training camps.

Depending how offseason and the draft shake out, Scott Machado could be worth a look in training camp. At least invite to Summer League.

I wonder if we get Shareef O'Neal on the South Bay Lakers if he doesnt go to UCLA because of his grades.

He'd likely go straight to G-League.
