Besides Kobe, Wilt and James. My choice would be George Mikan. |

It's weird for anyone to put up a statue for an owner. You want to name a part of the arena or adjacent area after an prominent owner, great. But erect a statue? No way. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Definitely Dr. Buss. Just look at the freak show we've been seeing after he had passed away. Lakers were once a mighty empire for many years until the demise of its great leader. |

It’s a question if he gets his jersey retired, def not a statue outside Staples. _________________ We pour this booze and we drink this booze because we think it's yummy. YUMMY! So over the tounge and down the throat to party in our tummys.

Seems like the Lakers want to wait until the Laker legend is retired a certain amount of time or inducted into the hall, but Kobe is Kobe...
2. Wilt?
3: Worthy?
Who else?
Not sure the fan base resonates with Mikan or Goodrich. Wilkes was not good enough.
Another thought:
Dr. Jerry Buss |
I really don't consider Wilt an all time Laker great. He's more of a great who happened to play with the Lakers. It'd be the same if LeBron signed here. |

He never played in LA, though. I’d have no problem with it, but it would be a little odd. It would be like putting a statue of Kurt Warner outside the Rams’ new stadium. |

I’d vote for Paul Gasol before I vote for some of these other choices. I’d say Kobe, MAYBE Worthy and that’s it. |

Sure, because the team moved. But he was the first team and league superstar. Would you not put up a statue to magic if the team moved from LA? It’s a franchise, not just a location. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. How has nobody said Slava Medvenko yet? Or will he be included in Kobe's statue?
For real though Jerry Buss, 100% needs a statue but I've heard they are thinking of putting it in Commerce Casino. |

I get where you’re coming from, but I think it’s kind of a different situation. Dr. Buss is pretty much universally accepted as one of the best owners in sports history, and was synonymous with the Lakers brand for 3 decades of unprecedented success.
If this were any other team/ownership family, then I’d absolutely agree. I just don’t think anyone would have a problem with it, and it’s undoubtedly deserved. |
Isn’t it AEG who puts up the statues? The Lakers wouldn’t put up Gretzky or De La Hoya. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Star Plaza is incomplete without
- Wilt ”The Stilt” Chamberlain

- Pat Riley (He is the first North American sports figure to win a championship as a player, assistant coach, head coach, and as an executive.)
- James “Big Game” Worthy
- Phil Jackson
- George “Mr. Basketball” Mikan
- Kobe “Black Mamba” Bryant _________________ "Bobbin' and weavin' and let the good get even"
