They're even going after men who are trying to support them. It's gotten way out of hand. Male celebrities should just keep their mouths shut and not utter one word of support for the movement. If they do, people will dig through their past and find something to hammer them on. |
This has gotten way out of control.
I have a problem with the idea that someone can come forward decades later and accuse someone of this and it ruin their life. The person accused has no real way of defending themselves. I have a problem with that. And if you've even looked at a woman cross-eyed in the last 50 years, you are vulnerable. I have a problem with that. Men are losing everything behind ACCUSATIONS. I have a problem with that. This #metoo nonsense has COMPLETELY gone off the rails. |
It's been joked that we have reached a point where males are scared to hear their name mentioned in public. And for the very reason you mention it's not really a joke.
That said, there are certain men whose names have been mentioned where you think "well, that's not surprising at all":
Vegas casino king Steve Wynn accused of ‘pattern of sexual misconduct’ |
As someone in the industry, how big of a deal did you think Harvey Weinstein was before all of this? Was he more powerful than Stephen Spielberg and James Cameron, as some have said earlier in this thread? I had never heard of him before. |
Harvey was a different kind of powerful. He wasn't a name that registered with the general public, but he was the decision maker on a ton of projects that as far as sheer numbers rival what Spielberg does, even though he doesn't have the public name recognition. Which is why he was able to exploit it so horribly and for so long. |
In terms of sheer numbers, he was behind the distribution of over 700 films with Miramax then another 300+ with The Weinstein Company. That's a really broad reach. Over the course of his career, those 1000+ films earned over 300 Academy Award nominations across all categories. His influence was undeniable, especially if you intended to make an "important" film.
The guy was a marketing genius and was an expert at identifying stars and films that needed just the right push to break through.
However, that genius was rooted in something very evil. He had multiple personality defects any one of which would have made him an outright monster. There have been plenty of articles written about him recently that demonstrate his sociopathic tendencies.
His aforementioned genius however was compelling and when he paired it up with gravitas and charm, it made for an intoxicating power.
All in all, talent aside, he was and is possibly one of the worst human beings on earth. Whatever negative thing happens to him is deserved.
That's all I have to say about that. |

i dont even know what to make of this one. on one had, lets assume the story she gave was true. on one hand you want to get as close to justice as you can under the circumstances. and maybe the settlement was a lot and you felt might as well get paid today and get rid of this high priced lawyer now. But the weird thing is that he's allowed to talk about it seeing as though he made the recent comments in that article. usually they are not allowed to discuss it. Similar to kobe's situation. |

as much as we love his acting and voice. any man at that age that is still wearing two hoop earrings are usually running up on women and being inappropriate because he sees himself as a playboy. I have never in life met a man of that age with those specific earrings in both ears that was not like that. zero surprise. it's still shameful. No matter how many times I read these accounts it still baffles me how blunt these guys are. Zero care about the lady's feelings. I'm thinking wow, is this really how you get women to sleep with you? You have to wonder...otherwise why do these guys continue this specific type of over the top behavior? |

to the bold. It wont set a precedence at all. For the obvious reason, Cosby as great as he was, is still black lets not kid ourselves. And even for Harvey. If he's convicted and goes down for a lot of time. I'm not sure that's going set precedence like it should. It's going to have to happen multiple times and multiple big names being convicted and sentenced to set that precedence. There's a ton of money behind these high level people. They are willing to let a handful take the loss for the entire team while most of these dudes continue to get away with it. But we'll see what happens. I just have little faith in a society dominated by us guys being most of the judges and lawmakers and people in position of power. It's like appealing a ruling to the same person that gave you the initial ruling. Odds are not much will change but we can hope. |

Ear rings are a fashion statement like watches, rings, chains etc. I've worn rings, a ear ring, gold chains, and watches for decades. I'm not a playboy and don't disrespect women. Michael Jordan, Denzel Washington wear ear rings.

and I'm sticking to what i said because I've seen it time and time again. any man of that age still wearing two hoop earrings is a playa. Period. You are correct it is a fashion statement. But for that era of guy to where that has a statement that says "look, i'm a playa, I'm a ladies man." Remember I said the double hoop earrings, not just one. |

puts both hands up.. whoa whoa whoa... no one went that far.
According to the ladies that have spoken out Weinstein was busting down doors and raping people.
Freeman was not accused of rape or anything close to it. he was accused of making people(ladies) feel uncomfortable thru some form of sexual harassment. 2 earrings does not equal sexual harasser. but it does = I think I'm a ladies man. you add I think I'm a ladies man to I'm a hollywood superstar and bam you have morgan freeman. |

Have Denzel or Mike been ever been " accused of making people(ladies) feel uncomfortable thru some form of sexual harassment?"

If Harvey wins his case it will have a huge affect on women coming forward in the future?
Weinstein pleads not guilty to rape as lawyer vows to fight on
Quote: | After leaving a courthouse in Manhattan, New York on Tuesday, his lawyer, Ben Brafman, told reporters that the case was "imminently defensible" based on what they have learned about the evidence. |

LINK | and this was my point when it was mentioned that cosby will set precedent. I said no it wont because this is america. where we have an american justice system that has always been extremely bias when it comes to people's skin color. we all know this is factual. Taking down a brown person will never set a precedent when white men run the industry. you have to take down big time, well known, powerful white men in order to set a precedent. if you do that, now we're talking. |

That really surprises me. I've always thought of you as someone that keeps a fairly sensitive thumb on the zeitgeist's heart beat. I was aware of HW far before this and was aware of the allegations as well. I always thought it was an open secret that he was a monster, just one of those things H-town accepted because of his last name and $$. Same with Cosby, actually. When everyone was expressing shock at Hannibal's set, I just thought he was streets behind ripping off material at least a decade old. |
