Lakers need to be patient and damned certain before “trading” for Leonard. While I agree he has an impressive resume, they have to make sure he still is or can still be that same player. IMO it is too big a risk to hope he can be. They have to know it is not recurring and he is never the same player again. |
sure they have a Ray Donovan, Olivia Pope or a Wags on the payroll to find the truth in these matters. |

One thing that's not covered here: The NY/Philly/Wash DC corridor generally has a combined media market that dwarfs everything else. There's a lot of bleed over across that corridor, so the actual media penetration along the corridor is much higher than the individual markets indicate. _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

If the spurs want to trade KL, Then Boston and the Lakers are the best to land him. Because they have the assets.

although true. The Clippers are there as well they can trade tobias harris plus HIGH first round picks. Detroit and their own....
this is what I was saying. This is one of those mistakes that magic Johnson has made. HE DIDNT get JERRY WEST when He had the chance and by letting him go to the clippers it will only attract free agents and trades of high caliber to play under a young ownership and a HOFamer in a big market. Magic was just too thick headed to realize that by letting Jerry go to the clippers it can create competition

This reminds me of the Cavs trading Kyrie for IT coming off an injury. IT may never be the same. The risk is too great. |

I agree with you I wouldn't trade for KL. I just wanted to point out what I think the Lakers would give if they believe the dude is healthy. |

I would do it if LeBron and PG13 were coming. Those guys with Lonzo and Lopez would be a nasty defense. plus Kuzma and Hart off the bench. Add some more shooters. We’d be the favorite again and a very fun team to watch |

Kyrie isn't actually ironman, it's actually starting to look like Cavs got a decent haul. JC/Nance/Hood + BK first for Kyrie. |

I was referring to baseless innuendo and my own cynical suspicion of NBA steroid usage and comical testing.
As for Leonard, going to assume teams will have much more info of the injury and ramifications then the media and public. Prefer Lakers be cautious before trading for a headline grabbing marquee name only to see him be damaged goods or move on in free agency. |

Kawhi's cryptic injury reports continue to worry me (from a Lakers perspective). No need to rush imo, just take the PG approach. Let him play wherever he is traded to, and if he is dead set on becoming a FA and/or a Laker, you'll have a free shot to sign him next offseason. I would HATE to trade BI for a guy with so many question marks, and then have to watch one of our guys become a superstar in San Antonio, while we're left with damaged goods. |

If the Spurs trade Kawhi Leonard, it won't be to another team in the West. IMO, I think Kawhi and the Spurs will come to terms on a long term deal. _________________ “Love is the force that ignites the spirit and binds teams together.” - Phil Jackson |

Agreed, AuraStar. All will be resolved July 1st (or whenever they're eligible to extend that Supermax) and they have two months now to discuss and work it out until then. |

Thought I read that the Spurs will need to decide sometime around June. |

Didn't Kawhi get tested right after he had a huge game with a game winner? |

My money is on Pop convincing KL to patch up their differences, then RC offers him the supermax. Unless his uncle can somehow convince him that LA is the best place for him, then I have to give their organization the benefit of the doubt on repairing their relationship. |

If Kawhi is getting the supermax, he's staying a Spur. He's just making sure he gets paid without showing how hurt he could be. |

How so?
They named the specific players and went in depth way more than any other article I have seen.
It sounds to me like Kawhi is getting overwhelmed a bit with people trying to get in on the action and speak for him while he is likely feeling stress over the slow progress on this injury.
Very odd situation, I am a huge Kawhi Leonard fan as a SDSU alum who saw pretty much every college game he played. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Agreed on being Kawhi fan. He was probably the best two-way player in the NBA before the injury. And I like his quiet, cool style. Correct me if wrong, because I didn't read the whole thing closely, but everything is hung on anonymous "multiple sources." I don't trust that, especially in sports journalism. Could be anyone, and people are basically paid to talk in sports punditry: agents, journalists, "experts," hangers-on... ESPN needs something to talk about 14 hours a day and Ramona (or whoever it might be) needs to stay relevant. |
