Hey all,
LA Isn't 'The Process West,' but Jesse Buss Giving Lakers Necessary Draft Edge
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2773040-la-isnt-the-process-west-but-jesse-buss-giving-lakers-necessary-draft-edge
My favorite line from the story:
"Jim came to me personally," Buss said. "'If you put your balls on the line for him, we'll buy the pick,' he said, and that was Jordan."
Also,

Nice.
I loved Buss' take on leadership between Magic and Rob/Kobe.
Thanks! |

Good article emplay....honestly kind of feared it may be fluffy when it showed up in my Yahoo feed and I saw title only without author.....but it was very informative. |

Finding a rotation player with a late 20s pick is such a game changer. And I think we will be contending very soon, so our staff has already been practicing finding steals at the end of the draft. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Beyond that.
I think he understands the importance of replenishing talent and scouting when the Lakers didn't maximize their picks all throughout their championship runs. It was frustrating to watch for basically a decade with not even a handful of hits out of 20 theoretical picks. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Jesse Buss and Ryan West are a dream team for us in that department. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

would Phil have played and/or developed them anyway? People love to crack on Ebanks....but the Lakers never put any effort into Ebanks or several other younger guys during that period. |

a lot of that was on Ebanks - he was given an opportunity to be an Ariza replacement and didn't put in any effort into that _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

He really does. The work they're doing has laid a very, very solid foundation. I concur with Jesse when he stated that even if we don't acquire a big name, we're still really excited about the future.
I loved the article Emplay. Between reading yours, and Ramona's about the Spurs, I've had a reading feast today. |

was he developed? did the staff focus on developing him his rookie and 2nd season....or are you saying he was put of the court and simply failed? If that is what your saying, that was obvious.....but how does not one player come out of those years that we actually made picks to have a contributing NBA career? |

Lakers are far better at development now but Ebanks had a serious motivation issue _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

Great stuff. I can see, sometime in the future, Joey running the business side and Jesse running BB Ops. _________________ .... |

Great piece, but what is Ryan West up to? Wasn't he supposed to be being groomed for the GM position? |

If we had Jesse and Ryan in 2003, I’m pretty confident they wouldn’t have passed up Tayshaun Prince for Kareem Rush.. |

Yep. Ebanks showed flashes, but unfortunately, that off the court stuff, kept it to only flashes. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

The sexual assault charge levied against him.
The DUI charge.
Suspended for drug violation in the D-league.
On the court:
Getting ejected, tossing a chair and taking off his jersey as he walked off the court in a pathetic playoff loss to the Thunder.
That's all I can remember. |

I love what Ryan West and Jesse Buss are doing.
Looks like Joey Buss is doing really well with the South Bay Lakers, too. |
