Stole the time Infinity Gem... I’ve seen 14 million outcomes and the only way we get Kawhi in a trade this summer is in a three way trade with Washington and San Antonio. We lose JR, Zu, Hart, and the Cleveland pick. We get Kawhi, and Oubre, and Mills. We re-sign BroLo, and IT finds his way to NY to play with the Unicorn.
The only catch is, Stark must live. |
Spoiler alert!
Considering our salary cap, is this THE most exciting off-season for the lakers ever? Every time I visit LG my anxiety level raises a notch. |
idk when we got Shaq that was pretty damn crazy. |
We got Shaq (and had to bite our nails down to the wire, watching newest dumping useful players like peeler and lynch to clear room), Kobe (almost lost that too when divac initially said he wouldn’t report to Charlotte), and fisher (Kuzma is not the only late first round gem, LA has had a lot of them) all in that one off season. Best offseason in franchise history after the singular arrival of Magic |
Like you said we had to dump assets to make room for the arrival of Shaq, but this summer we are gonna add star talent to the impressive young core... that’s pretty damn huge.... the only assets we are gonna dump are the picks if Deng is traded. |
Unfortunately we are also not getting a 24 yo Shaq this offseason. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Penny was similar.
Paired him with Shaq and he was marketable. Same with Leonard if he goes to LA. Even more so if he is alongside a superstar. |

Quote: | It's commonly heard on the front office grapevine that Leonard is eyeing the Lakers as a free agent in 2019. One of the Western Conference executives noted it's no accident that the Lakers reportedly have shifted their free-agent plans to focus on the '19 class (which Leonard may headline), according to Shelburne and ESPN.com's Adrian Wojnarowski, as opposed to a quick fix this summer.
"That's why [the Lakers] are spinning it into 'wait till next year,'" the executive said. "They know they can get Kawhi." |

We now have all the leverage if the Spurs want to do a trade with us. We are in a great position to be in. They don't want to lose him for nothing. We can low ball them or wait until 2019. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

Whoever's leaking that Kawhi doesn't like Texas is an idiot.
No matter how he feels, it shouldn't become public knowledge as he will alienate 10% of the US population... more if you include the entire Southwest and South with that. |

Not quite. The Lakers wouldn't have the leverage unless Kawhi made a similar move to the one George made last summer when he tanked his value by making it known that he was angling for the Lakers this summer. For now, Kawhi’s interest in the Lakers is still ultimately a rumor. What George did transported it out of the paradigm of rumor and catapulted it into fact. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. My dream is that we get LBJ, PG, and resign Randle this summer. Then we get to see if Kawhi play half a season and if BI and Randle improve. Hopefully he stays in SA for a year or gets traded to a sub-optimal situation. Then we can decide to trade for him at the deadline. Him going to Boston or Philly could change his mind. |

Yeah, my words were over dramatic... but it is dumb.
If the point of him moving is marketing... the first principle is not to trash huge demographic segments.

it'll be interesting to see how this plays out...
I know they want Kawhi, but how do you turn down LeBron given the option? |

Instead of trading for him, why don't we just trade LBJ in summer of 2019 and sign KL as his replacement? We would only have to wait a year right? |

Did you just go from 10%, to the entire Southwest and South, to half the country?
From a quote that he doesn't like Texas? |
