There's basically 3 options for Deng this summer.

1. Nothing (start season on roster).
2. Stretched.
3. Traded.

What do you think will happen with Deng this summer?

I voted Nothing. I think he's likely a trade deadline trade, but all 3 could happen
1) Nothing: We get 1 or less max + Randle and punt $$

2) Stretch: We get a max and a senior max so we need to stretch Deng

3) We trade away a good chunk of the core and picks for KL or equivalent in which case deng is needed to balance the trade.

I feel that Magic and Pelinka desperately want to trade him. Teams will ask for Ingram, but in the end, its probably going to end up costing us Hart, #25, another unprotected 1st and a 2nd.

I don’t think he’s going to be traded, the cost of getting rid of him (hart, picks, ect..) is more than just swallowing the stretch amount. If we need the money we will stretch him, otherwise, we will tell him to stay home and revisit this all again next offseason.

What a horrible horrible contract.

He’s gonna get traded, the only question is how and with who, Magic and Rob have planned for this summer since they took over the Lakers last year, if they have to dump Deng to keep Randle in a scenario that we get 2 max they will do it someway and somehow.

What will happen ?

He'll leave the club as a rich man, no doubt. Odds are strong that he won't get PT for the Lakers and that no club will take on his contract. It makes me sad that the Lakers peed their own bed with Deng. They overpaid him and then isolated him, reducing his value with every month. Knuckleheads.

They'll entertain offers, but wisely hang on to Hart, Ingram, Randle, Kuz, and Lonzo, plus one max. Then next year at this time we'll be marveling over how Jesse Buss and Bill Bertka nailed it again with the #25 pick, how our young core plays defense and shoots lights out, and we'll be right back here speculating over possible suitors for Deng's expiring contract.

As we look forward to watching the Lakers in the WC finals.

We get Lebron and George, and he is traded to make room for Randle.

So far, Maginka have shown that they won't give up draft picks to get rid of bad contracts, as everyone assumed that the Lakers would have to give up future picks to move Mozgov & Clarkson, yet all it took was the "sweetners" to take on those contracts were D'Angelo Russell & Larry Nance Jr. Hypothetically, using those templates so far, it would be Deng & one of the Lakers young players Maginka would be willing to get rid of a bad contract. IMO, if they feel like they have PG & Bron on the way, they try to dangle the 2018 first rounder to a bad rebuilding team that wants more assets to continue rebuilding and tanking, Deng & the 2018 first rounder is a good starting point, and if they have to thrown in a future first rounder as well should be enough to get out of Deng's contract. So far, Maginka have shown that they won't part with draft picks to get off bad contracts, but if the Lakers get PG and LeBron, they becomes contenders and the first rounders would be late firsts. But, with the success of the 2017 draft, might try to just keep the picks and see if they can continue hitting on the draft and continue to grow the young guys they drafted.

Two ways he gets traded:

1. Two max FA guys are ready to sign and we need to trade him inorder to get them (or if we need to trade him to also keep Randle)

or

2. We find a deal to get rid of him that doesn't require too much assets or one of Lonzo, Ingram, Kuz.

If neither happens, we keep him until next off season when he becomes an expiring contract. No reason to trade him and lose assets when we don't need the cap space.

Makes sense to me, and I don't see why a team like the Hawks wouldn't take him with a couple picks. Don't they need to hit the salary floor? That would mean we wouldn't need to take any money back.

Likely nothing, but I could see him being stretched if the space is needed. IMO, 2 late 1st Round picks will not move the Deng contract with 2 years remaining.

The ”when” of trading him is tricky, though that's the Lakers’ obvious preference. But I think anyone who's under the impression that they're so desperate to move him that they’d surrender Hart (let alone BI) is way off. They'll stretch Deng before they use one of the young players as a sweetener to move him. Two firsts is a steep enough price as it is. If a team wants more than that, hang up in their face and stretch him.

Don't trade him. It doesn't make sense to give up talent in order to sign more talent. Just keep him and bite the bullet. I think he'll stay put.

I believe the Hawks have 3 first round picks this year, so another first I'm sure they wouldn't mind. However, that Deng contract is next level awful and the worst contract in the league, but I think they could attach the 2018 Cav's pick with Deng, can see a team like the Bulls or Hawks, who just started tanking last year, wouldn't mind getting another 1st rounder to continue their rebuild/tank. Maginka so far have shown that they won't give up first rounders, instead they have been able to GET first rounders back from bad contracts. The front office only move Deng if they feel like they are the ones that come out as the winners without giving up much, as so far Maginka have very easily won the trades they have made with the Nets & Cav's so far.
