Oh, and for today's bad managing 101 call of the day: Stripling hit for himself in the bottom of the 5th inning with 2 on and 2 out. Then, pitching in the top of the 6th, he was pulled after facing TWO BATTERS and at 79 pitches...and he even retired one of those batters.

It's unconscionable.

almost everyone, if not everyone in this thread watches more MLB than I do....but I was perplexed when they pulled Stripling after just letting him bat with 2 on. Even worse, the hit was not even a solid shot, and it was by Scooter Gennett who has been on fire this series (10 for 14...came into series batting .288, and his average today is .329).

Have no idea if there is any truth to it, but on the Thursday Reds broadcast, the Dodgers did some weird shift where they moved their RF'er to CF, and their CF'er to RF for a batter....then switched back.....and the Reds broadcaster claimed there has been "word of Roberts and the Dodgers bench becoming increasingly frustrated by so my in game directives coming from the analytics team upstairs.....and claiming it had cost the team on multiple occasions". Just saying pulling Stripling at that point did not feel like a "baseball guy" decision.

Stripling is not a typical starter. He is filling in because 2 starters are out right now. He has a max pitch count and he hit his limit.

Even if that's the case, then you don't allow him to bat in that situation in the bottom of the 5th. It's really simple logic. You have 2 runners on, and you might as well just put up a pinch hitter, if the pitcher is near his pitch limit anyway.

Players have given up. Roberts needs to leave.

The front office will have some decisions to make before the trade deadline.....is this a throwaway year or do they still want a chance to make the playoffs?

Worst 40-game start for the Dodgers since 1958.

Really? The guy took an injured squad to the world series just months ago and you want him to leave now? I don't agree with that. He is a very good coach. This team is just even more injured and having the WS losing hangover.

Team is injured and our bullpen is garbage....honestly unless the front office makes some moves to strengthen our bullpen it doesn't matter what changes they do to the lineup or coaches. When you have Walker Buehler pitching a gem and the bullpen just gives the game away that is the story of our woes this year.

Hopefully this puts a spark in the team and they go on a run. At this point i dont need a crazy run like last year. Just a nice decent run to get back in contension.

That would be nice and I think it is likely. Even with the injuries this team is not that bad. Maybe not a world series contender this year, especially without Segar and now Kershaw, but we are not as bad as our record indicates.

Wow...Unacceptable by Bellinger. Routine DP, and he misses the catch, letting them score a run. These guys just finding new ways to lose every night.

It's almost impressive how we continue to fail at getting a guy in from 3rd with less than two outs.

Anything other than a strike out and a pop up would've done the job. Of course Taylor has to pop it up.

Amazing how we make pitchers with ERA's of 5, 6, 7 look like HOF'ers.

He's made plenty of questionable/bad calls (not just this year, but during the WS run last season). I'd take Boone, Cora, and Francona ahead of him; heck what's Girardi doing these days?

In the MLB it just shows you that skill and talent contributes to only about 50% to a teams success - a lot of it is just luck/chance

Well a lot of our talent is sidelined due to injuries.

We lost to a team that is purposely tanking.....this might be even lower than the Reds sweep at home.

Honestly, if they are still looking like this in mid-June, I'm writing this off as a lost year and looking to sell. I've changed my mind about getting Machado; there's just no point. Keep whatever young talent we have, and I'd look to trade Puig and Grandal and any other expirings. Maybe the Dodgers can do the Angels a favor and give them Puig, since Kole Calhoun is literally hitting in the .150's.

In any event, this team is listless and going nowhere. Dead Team Walking.

Sadly I think it's more likely we lose 90 games than win 90 games this year.
